what do i need?

ok so yea i have never messed with audio stuff but my car came with an aftermarket stereo system so i am trying to learn what i need to make it sound good. the car has a decent pioneer deck and aftermarket interior speakers. it also came with a 10" jl audio sub in an enclosure, a 15" sub (i will have to see what brand), a 1200 watt amp powering the 15 and a 360 amp for the interior. there is also a fusebox in the trunk that has the hot wires running from that. the 10 was just included in the sale and is not hooked up. i also have some tweeters that are not installed yet that came with the car. i was just wondering what i could do with my current setup buying the least amount of stuff as possible... i would rather spend my money elsewhere on the car.

Sell one of the subs, if not both. I good set of amplified speakers in the doors and trunk will give you a good amount of powerful music.

If you'd like to be vibrating as you coast down the street, pick up the necessary wiring (amp kit, perhaps) from best buy, circuit city, car toys, hell even wal mart has shitty ones, and hook up those subs. If the amps are connected to the deck already, your job is easy. Do yourself a favor and go to pioneers website and download the user manual. It should have specific directions. Same goes for the amps as well as the subs.

Personally, that 15" sub would do me next to no good whatsoever. I'd guess its a cheap sub powered by a cheap amp that puts out 1200W of what some may call music... haha. I'm not a huge fan of the thump in the trunk, can ya tell?

thanks for the reply... i will get more specific info when i get my car back... it is having problems that neither i nor 3 mechanics have been able to fix so yea... its a pretty shitty speaker... as for the amps i do not know... i know there are quality speakers in the car... i just cant remember what brand lol. all the wiring is done, except the kill switch to the amp... i do need to run that.

i coulsdnt help but get my 15in cant wait 2 put it in. i would like 2 get seperate amps for sub and mids. heres my sub. UNLess u can afford a 5channel amp. go for that

Sounds fine to me the setup you listed. IF you want to learn to make it sound better go online and find out the settings on the head unit and go from there. I used to just sit in my car and play with settings on my alpine deck to check the potential of my stock speakers. Lame but yea.

What kind of JL-Audio 10" it it isn't loud enough it might not be the sub's problem. Also how is it hooked up and to what amp. When you tell us the model numbers and other information on your system we can be of more help.

ok so i lied the head unit is an alpine media xpander cda-7995 and the jl isnt hooked up... the unknown brand 15 is hooked up to a 1200 watt bmwx-484 2 channel amp... the rear deak speakers are rockford fosgate... didnt get down to look at them really good cuz it was dark and i hate mosquitoes and i dont know what the door speakers are because i didnt feel like pulling the door panels, but those r run by an spl 360 watt speaker... it looks half assed cuz this is a single channel amp running all four of those speakers but yea thats the setup... i dont know how bad/good that is cuz i didnt do it nor do i know what is good or bad lol

That's a pretty decent head unit seeing as how it put out like 4 volts on the preouts, that's definately a keeper. But that amp that's running the spreakers inside.....you did say it's a mono block right..... i dunno about that. I would definately throw in that jl audio sub before I went with that 15 and found some good amps to push the frts, rears, and subs.
