ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    15" Subs that pound

I know I asked this last year sometime, but yet again, I need some advice. I think one 15" subwoofer would sound good, but I'm thinking of running 2 15" (ported box) in my CB7. What type of amp would I need for one 15" subwoofer or two 15's? Also, would a capacitor be necessary?

This is want my setup to sound like.....King Kong In The Trunk!! . How would I get 2 15's to sound like that? I might run 3 15's! I'm a madman if I actually put 3 15's in a CB7!

honestly the bass sound that 15's make is sloppy to me. i like 12's. 15's seems like an uncontrollable bass and take up too much room. i heard 2 12's sound wayy better than 2 15's.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

I'm going to go ahead and agree with the others about 15's sound quality. But if you want to beat down the block

As for the amp, you should really have one dedicated to each 15 if you get two (just because finding an amp that could power both would be crazy expensive and maybe huge) As for what amp, it depends on your setup. Here is a good general guideline to follow
          .
          http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/...TID~75836~PN~1

A capacitor may not be necessary if you upgrade your electrical system. I would highly recommend upgrading the "Big Three"

          http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/...TID~73496~PN~1

It's cheap and can really help out, especially in cars like ours because they're so old. You also may want to step up to a better battery or even get a higher rated alternator if you're going real big.

Which sub Depends on what you want. Everyone tends to hate on Kicker, but if you want loud without quality they can't be beat. The Punch series are pretty good, but not really 'crazy loud'. Don't know about the T1 Now my favorite Memphis I've demoed some of their products, including the Mojo line and loved it. That's what I would choose. Plus they have some of the most badass looking amps ever.

Oh yeah, to everyone saying that you "wouldn't have enough air for the subs" Consider this

          http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...259524,00.html

173.3 dB, 9 TS-W5000SPL's, and only a little bit of air. I don't think that his 2 or three 15"s are going to be a problem.

I actually have a Rockford Power T1 15". That is one hell of a sub if you know how to use it right. Its actually very versatile considering its a 15". I had it in a 1.5 cube sealed box to a 3.5 cube ported box. Of course the 1.5 is for sq only. It hit almost every note flawlessly. And with the 3.5 it was just pure SP. Just pound like crazy.

Noo way thats a common misconception about 15's and 18's they hit no sloppier than an 8,10,or 12.
this sloppiness that u hear may be from a subpar driver or enclosure .
ive owned 8's to 18's and the larger drivers all kept up with the smaller ones its all in the install and the quality of the subs and also ditch all these mainstream brands and go with some "underground" brands like tc sounds, ed,soundsplinter,fi car audio,or other and u might just find whats best for your ride mang

also x2 to what tn said

ironically, the guy with the bigger stick doesn't win in the audio department.

i had a very high quality MTX 10 powered by a MTX 250watt amp in my sedan, and it pounded harder than a buddy of mine's jeep with 2 12's in it.

                it's about quality, not quantity.

my friend was an installer at future shop a while back and he told me the secret to having a good system. Class D amplifiers are your friend when considering heavy sound. D Class puts out only a mono signal so no sudden jumps/loss in frequency.
Yes stereo amplifiers will work but if you're trying to achieve raw bass, the class D is what you'll want. Also, the wattage rating on your subs are lower than the actual numbers so be careful when buying an amp.

The most important thing is finding a quality amp that will put out the kind of sound you're looking for. I've had rockford fosgate 600 D amp and the bass seemed disturbed. I purchased a MTX 500D amp and it was the best bass i've ever heard out of my car. The MTX was 100watts less power but pounded harder than 600watt Rockford amp.

As for the topic about 15" subs not having enough air to pump, It's not really about the speaker, it's about the cubic inches of the box and the design of the ports that determine what kind of bass you'll get from that speaker. I have a friend who has 2-10s in an Integra and damn, that bass pumps your heart for you...lol. He had the box built to the specs that came with the speaker and it paid off.
