ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

it wasn't to bad, its a funny story actually how i got it.

a good buddy i race with owns Norm Baker here in Las Vegas; there the official Lotus Destributor here.

To be honest i was going to buy a used Honda S2000 from him. it had some great bolt on for the track (tien coilovers, aem intake, spoon exhaust, etc). which he was selling for $22,000. low monthly, low APR. it was perfect for me.
          i was sold.

Then the day before i was going to sign the papers and take delivery. he got a repo from another dealership (a cali dealer). he payed off how much the person owed to the bank.

anyways he tried to sell it to me saying "i can help you mod it", "i can give you parts at cost", "free installation" etc.

i really didn't want it because im a honda fan, the lotus looked funny to me (at first), and it was SMALL. PLUS, i was scared about the monthly payments.

my friend offered me the same monthly payment for the same amount of time. he's almost not making money on it.

I took it! and now a year later im at where i am now.

so i picked it up for $23,500.

          not bad huh? lol

damn, nice lotus! how much power is it making with that supercharger? any consideration of a k-series swap?

i promised myself that the second car i buy out of college (after a TL or G35 sedan) will be a white elise with the sport package and black wheels.

im currentlly running around 260-270Hp to the wheels with the supercharger kit on 100 octane. depending on the weather outside.

you know what i heard that the K20 is a really nice swap into the Elise, not the Exige. The Elise and The Exige have one big differences, the VVTI(Variable Vavle timing; remember the motors are 2zz-ge of the celica). The Exige has the 2 stage cams, so first VVTI kicks in around 4300 RPM, then another at 7200 RPM. Almost like a 2 stage VTEC.

The Elise would be ideal to do the K20 swap on if you were going to go all motor or turbo, depending on how much money you want to spend.

personaly i really love how the car is setup right now. i run at willow springs, spring mountain, laguna seca (i have a hard time running here due to the fact od DB laws of california). i hold my own down keeping up with Porsche 911 GT3, Corvettes Z06 (C7), Supras, Vipers, Etc.

i just love the fact of having half the power and still keeping up on the straights due to the power to weight.

got to love it, thanks for the great comment.

hope you get the elise when you get out of college man! there a blast to drive, even the s2000 is a great contender to bud, might want to look into that also!

                Good luck!

i'm sorry, why is it tough to run on laguna seca? i am not familiar with many of california's rediculous laws.

edit: another viable swap i've seen is the 1zz from the 2nd gen mr2 turbo. i have seen one of those with over 800hp! i'm not really saying you should do this, the 2zz works just fine, its just something you could do

since laguna seca is in the montain area you cant have over 90DB exhaust; unless its a race day. you are only suppose to bring "street legal cars".

before any race day they have DB test on the back straight away. you can cheat the system by lifting right before the corner; so it reads lower. you can usually get away with it because i see fully built corvettes and vipers racing and there plenty loud.

the track usually is forgiving if they know your a regular, but like i said its in the mountains so the mountain patrol have there own DB readers and if they catch you, they throw a .

i know people who have done some crazy swaps! k20, sr20, k24. etc. and there just stupid fast. to each there own though, i personally dont need all the HP because ill kill myself in my sardine can!

oh, now it makes sense. a turbo would lower that exhaust quite nicely twincharging ftw!
