    TSX or WRX?

So I'm thinking within a year I'll probably be selling the cb. It's a great car and I love tuning it but I just want something a bit newer.

I'm looking at the 04-06 models. I really like the look/style of the TSX, 6spd, great gas mileage.. enough power and I'd assume theres a great aftermarket for it.

So many people in my family have has WRXs and STi's so I know they're great and fun and respond very well to mods but to be honest, they don't look too good and the interior generally sucks. (of course there're execeptions) and they're usually a pita to work on.

I love Hondas and how things are so easy with them. They take better to high mileage than Subaru as well. The TSX doesn't have AWD but really, I was in a newer Civic and my brothers TL in the snow and they didn't even have snow tires and they had more grip than my cb7 w/ blizzaks so I'm not worried about it. The advantage in handling isn't really worth the gass mileage imo.

The TSX just looks gorgeous and the interior is amazing. Just like the TL but smaller.

Although the 06wrx is what really gets me on the fence.. 4piston brakes, nice styling with the wheels and 6spd I beleive.. 2.5liter..

I know all too much about subarus aftermarket.. Whats the TSX's aftermarket like? I think they're 160hp? How easy is it to get that in the mid 200s? What do they run 1/4 mile?

I've thought about the rsx-s but they're so hard to find, the srt-4 but it's a dodge and the interior was designed by a 4th grader, the si but it just looks stupid, sorry.. a prelude, i just think they suck.. scion tc, girls car.. late 90s bmw, too expensive to repair.. Cobalt SS, fairly nice but something about it seems, idk like a toy car. Any other cars you suggest?

    Any input helps!

Get the TSX and find some Mugen, Spoon, and J's Racing stuff to put on it.

FWIW, the TSX is rated at 205-200HP depending on year. Newer ones are rated 200, but have a better torque curve.

Definitely the TSX. I feel like the only thing going for the WRX is the boxer engine and the awd. The TSX will be a much nicer car; fit & finish, maitenence...

The WRX would sound really good because of the boxer engine, I always jaw drop when I hear them.

The TSX would have a larger performance/visual after market.

What are your plans for the car?

IMHO I'd look at a Legacy GT over the WRX

TSX, it has a very nice interior and a 2.4L Honda big block not to mention the exterior styling is typical low-key Honda; which usually reacts very well to modifications.

I used to think it was the motor that sounds good, but it's the uneven length header that makes the noise. Yes, it is awesome.

TSX larger aftermarket... umm bullshit. It's a WRX. Good aftermarket for both.

What are your plans is a good one. WRX is much quicker stock, TSXs are pretty slow...

Without a doubt I would mod either one for more performance. With the TSX I'd do the standard I/H/E and a reflash. It looks like they supercharge/turbo them as well but that might get expensive. The WRX is stage 2 w/ just a turboback and engine management and it responds very well. Yes it is the unequal length headers that make the rumble.

I figure the TSX looks nicer inside and out, can be made faster, easier to work on probably, more comfortable... it's a Honda..

Idk I just know the WRX has a lot better potential for more power.

The WRX aftermarket is INSANE. There are more Subaru-approved upgrades for the WRX than any significant Honda upgrades.

The WRX has a lot more potential for easy power. Cobb Tuning offers some incredible packages (and I know of at least one dealership in New England that sells Cobb upgrades, and won't void your warranty with them)

The TSX DOES have a nicer interior. The TSX is a nicer car overall. The TSX will probably last longer, since it's naturally aspirated (and the WRXs tend to need significant attention around 100k... which is one reason I didn't get one, because the ones in my price range were around that mileage).

If you want power, the WRX is the way to go. If you want significant upgrades without rebuilding the entire car, the WRX is the way to go. If you want lively handling, a classy ride, better fuel economy, and a better chance of long term reliability... the TSX is your car.

Personally, I'd get the WRX. Then again, I'm not getting rid of my CB7, and it's already faster (and handles better) than a TSX would. The TSX would just be a more luxurious version of what I already have!

I think it depenbds on what youre going for.

The TSX can be quick, but i think its more of a luxury vehicle than anything.

The WRX is built for speed.

Id personally go with the TSX.

WRX's put down less power than a TSX.
Although I love subaru, I would suggest the TSX because it is so hard to find a WRX that is not beat the bag out of...unless you want a wagon. I might actually get a wagon since it barely weighs anymore, is far cheaper, and more reliable since it hasn't been molested. You should see some of the descriptions on WRX's for sale. I saw one the other day that said "Only knocks at idle...Probably because it hasn't been tuned" after listing various mods that I can't think of. How do people treat their cars sooo poorly.

p.s. just realized you were talking about an 06 wrx. Since not as many people have driven those. I would suggest that instead. Try to get them in the "limited" version. My good friend just got one. You could say it's a luxury WRX that has a great ride!

Yeap. Head gaskets go out on pretty much every WRX at 100k miles, and that usually requires an engine drop, and sometimes a milled head, to fix.

They're pretty different cars. One is a performance car with HUGE potential, the other is a reliable, good looking, semi-luxury car. If you want performance, you know where to go, if you want easy driving you know where to go.

I'm losing interest in performance street cars, just because of the antics that go hand in hand with horsepower. I'm a careful driver, but I don't need to increase the possibilities of wrapping my sports car around a tree.

As far as I'm concerned, luxury rolls on the street, performance rolls on the track.

                            I'd get the TSX.

I couldn't look an 02-04 WRX in the face every day. Plus the interior is spartan.

TSX is kinda slow but IMO detuned from the factory. Like you and everyone said, decent power is a reflash and some parts away. I look at it kind of like a 4 door sequel to the awesome BB6 Prelude. The interior is very very nice as well coming from a CB and it is a solid car. Something about them throws me off though... I don't know if I could fully commit to one. Good cars though. WRXs are the new DSMs. IMO if you get a real used one you're begging for trouble.
