ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Hayne's Manuals

I just want to warn everyone about these manuals. Yes they are helpful and provide A LOT of good information. However, they aren't always made by the best mechanics, and they do not cover every part of the vehicle (try to find the resonator box for the accord in the hayne's manual). Here is my problem with the Hayne's Manuals:

I know one of the mechanics that used to work with Hayne's to make these manuals. They will rent the car from a rent-a-car company for two weeks and do a complete tear down on the vehicle. However, the mechanic I know who did work on a lot of the Hayne's manuals is not a well educated mechanic. In fact, he isn't even a mechanic anymore. This mechanic used to ask my dad for help on cars because he couldn't figure out the problems. His diagnosis skills were unacceptable, let alone useless.

(Just so you know, my dad is a Master Mechanic and owns his own shop. He has worked as a mechanic since he was 16. My dad knows his stuff. It's the reason why he was the highest paid mechanic in California when he was working at a stealership.)

I am not saying that Hayne's Manuals are useless. They are great manuals that provide a lot of helpful information. Just be careful because the mechanics who made them were not necessarily the best mechanics.

I am not trying to argue with anyone, or cause a flame war. I am simply informing you all of some information about Hayne's that you might not know.

There's a reason why these manuals cost $20, and Helm manuals cost $100.

They're good for a general resource, but I agree... they should not be trusted exclusively. Same goes for Chiltons. Hell, the Chiltons manual I have for my CB7 covers all Accords and Preludes from 1984 to 1995... The differences in the cars over that range is HUGE!

Exactly. It just scares me when it seems like people think that these manuals are the be all end all of information for the cb7.

They're better than some lousy advice you can find on forums... but still not the best.

You should NEVER take any source's word for it if you don't understand what you're doing and why. If you understand what you are doing, you can tell if the information is bad in many cases.
