ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Get a USDM H22 from CA and run the ECU that came with it. It'll be fine as long as it's healthy, and you have all emissions components hooked up.

BAR is Bureau of Automotive Repair. It's the referee process that you have to go through to get an engine swap CA certified.

What's the chances of me having to have them check my car??...Or would it be best to just call and schedule a day for them to go through my car and give me the certification saying its CA approved basically??...And also I'm getting my H22 through hmotoronline...So wouldn't that make it CA approved since I'm picking it up out of CA??...Sorry for all the questions...I just want to have my car legit...N I don't want to have to dip and dodge the police all the time in my dd...

It does not matter where you got the engine. If you want a legal swap in California you must take it to a smog ref. Its not a big deal, you just schedule an appointment and the ref will look over the car and make sure anything to do with emissions is installed correctly, then he will do a sniffer test just like a regular smog. If you pass you get a sticker basically saying this swap is legit and you can go to a regular smog place next time. When I had it done the cost was the same as any other smog check.

If you were picking it up in CA and putting it in a Prelude, it may not be an issue, as long as you run all CA-spec emissions controls. However, you are putting it into a car that never came with the engine, so it has to be approved. Otherwise, if a cop pulls you over and asks you to pop your hood, your car could get impounded.

Gary, just an FYI, they don't do an emissions test at the ref anymore. They just do the Visual and send you to a smog only center to have the sniffer test ran.

Aslong as you have the emissions correct(cat, egr, pcv, evap) you should be straight when you go to the ref.

ECU as well. The JDM ECU isn't programmed the same as the CA-spec ECU. It MAY pass, but most likely will not.

fyi it will pass with a jdm ecu.... BAR is a piece of cake now since its only visual and doesn't require you passing the emissions at the Ref Station..

So I would pass with a P13 instead??...What if I just left it completely stock to get through the test and put on all the extra's??...That would probably be my best beat huh??...I have a smog hookup so passing isn't a issue...Just being legit is my main concern...
