ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    What do you guys think?

What do you guys think of the engine?

The guy that is selling it is selling it for his friend who got deployed.

    Is it worth the risk?

He says it has not been driven for over 4,000 miles.

I don't know why but it seems like people on Craigslist these days can't sell an H22A that hasn't been opened up. It always makes me think there was a reason they opened it up. And for him to have the cam caps off is a little odd too. He doesn't say that he had aftermarket cams that he removed to sell. It may be an okay deal but I don't know that I would trust it just to put the valve cover on and go.
My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!

If he mixed the cam caps up, reinstalling them in the wrong places could result in a snapped camshaft.

$400 isn't a bad deal for a good H22A, but if it's not good... it's a waste of money (unless you want a project motor to rebuild... but then it's still a lot for a rebuild project.) If you're willing to take the risk, and it's good... then you'll luck out. If you take the risk and it sucks, is it worth it to you to lose $400 on a chance?

How does that even make sense?

How do you measure the lack of use of a part in distance not driven?

" yeah it hasn't been driven 100k because i didn't drive it that much "

400 bucks is not a bad risk on my end but all the parts that are missing is what is worrying me.

H22A's do not sell out here at all on CL. A guy is selling like 3 of them that need a rebuild as well. He will probably have those for a while.

            Thanks for all the help.

I was just stating what was told to me Tippey so people giving me feedback on it knew exactly as much as i did.

Since emissions are such a big deal in CA, and H22A's have a reputation for burning oil when they age, people just don't want them. An oil burner isn't going to pass smog.

yea that is the biggest problem out here is smog. Worst place ever when it comes to smog I hate it.

Hot smog is always a option tho =)
