ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    My car's rev limiter...?

So the other day my friend who has p's came over in his 91 cb7 because he wanted to rub it in that he could drive and i noticed his cb7 can only redline to 6500k mean whilst mine redlines at 7200rpm wtf is with my car xD? He has an f22a4 i have an f22a9 and we were both in park xD.

    Any idea guys?

F22a6 is the engine code your speeking of. And mine bounces the rev limiter at 6700ish and my dads bounces and 7200ish. HOWEVER i have used a autometer monster tach on both and they both bounced at the same rpm on that tach. Soooo i beleive its all the the factory tach. This question has been asked before.

Im pretty sure that when i read the post where they were talking about this subject a couple years ago they came to the same conclusion but im not sure. I had a 92 LX once that would say its rev limiting at 5500rpm, I dont think the factory tachs are very dead on after 5000rpms.

        .2kbs that sucks man.

^you are talking about speed limiters, not rev limiters! EX, and SE trim levels do have a rev limiter (I don't know what it is though, there is no point to revving that high for two reasons. One, there isn't any power up there (on a stock motor) and two, these engines are old. That being said, I still mine up to about 5.5k)

LOL i totally disagree my f22a9's higher point of its power band is around 5000 you especially notice it when sport mode lets you rev to 7200rpm xD

You might want to specify that you're from Australia, since half this thread seems to be correcting you and providing information for USDM engines (though the F22A4 your friend has is a USDM engine.)

You're revving to fuel cut in park? That is a VERY bad idea. Great way to blow your engines.
Your A9 should be similar to the USDM A6, which makes the A6 crap spewed above applicable.

It really doesn't matter how high it can rev in park, because well... you shouldn't be doing that. You're going to spin a bearing that way. Revving the engine high without it being under load can do nasty things.

^^Thats what ive always been told. Its not as hard on an engine to rev high under a load as it is to "free rev" an engine. Rx7s (rotarys) are like this in a big way.

But like its been said there isnt any need to ever rev a stock or mild bolt on F22A1/4/6/9 that high because theres no power up there.

Correct. The F22A will not make any worthwhile power above redline in stock form. The bottom end is not made to rev higher than that, so if the head is made to flow enough to make power up there, the bottom end should be modified to handle it.

I'm just going to throw this out there. Maybe the F22A9 is a similar to the F22A3/7 that makes 150hp and makes that power a lot higher. Possibly the rev limiter is proportionately higher.
My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!

If it does make 150hp instead of the F22A6's 140hp, that's not THAT much different... the specs are still very close, and it's unlikely that it will be designed to rev much higher, if at all. It's still an F22A, with the same bore and stroke as any other.

Warranties usually don't cover abuse. If it's already leaking oil, the LAST thing you want to do is put it under unnecessary stress. And revving to 7 grand under load is different than revving to 7 grand in park. Very different.

                            But whatever. It's your engine.
