ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

    First Honda- First Car!

    Hello Everyone here =)

I've been reading through alot of the forum already, but because i didn't have a 4th gen Honda Accord, i decided not to join yet.. However.. That is going to change from today onwards..

In about 10 Hours time.. i will be purchasing a 92 Honda Accord EXI 4ws ( I live In Australia)......I'm very excited as it is my first car....

And i was wondering if you all could, tell me if there are any special things i should be aware of after i have purchased my car... e.g. any tweaks or bugs involving engine or anything...

O, i might mention that the car i purhcasing is complete stock..

I will hopefully upload some pictures in the correct topic in due time for you all to see =)...

Its great to be part of this forum =).. oo one thing i was wondering... why is the 4th Gen Accord known as CB7??

    welcome welcome welcome!

first off, youre going to love your cb7. no other way of putting it.

secondly, honda designated every chassis type with a 3 digit code, 2 letters and a number. CB is the chassis code, and 7 is the variation. theres CB1, CB3, CB4, etc etc... different versions of the 90-93 accord. in the USA, sedans and coupes are CB7, wagons are CB9. it was different elsewhere, yours might be a CB3. its listed in the VIN code, digits 4-6.

dont get discouraged by the cb7's little kinks and quirks... they tend to do weird things sometimes. sometimes the idle likes to mess up and constantly rev up and down between 1k and 2k. on hot days, they like to not start. trunks like to fill up with water, and the quarter panels by the rear wheels like to rust up. dont be discouraged by these, every problem is fixable, take them as an opportunity to learn about the car and become more comfortable working on it. any problem that youre going to have, i can safely assume that others have had the same problem before and its been discussed and plenty of information has been spread. get used to using the Search tool of this forum, itll reveal unending piles of information. also never be scared to ask for help. we all start somewhere!

definately take pictures when you get it, id like to see it.

    enjoy your stay here...

If rust is not a common problem where you live you don't need to worry about it. If rust is a problem you'll want to spray up inside the rear fender with water under pressure like at the self-serve car wash. When you angle the sprayer from the back side toward the wheel well water will come out between the fender and the bumper flushing out any loose sand, salt, and dirt that is in there.

The 90-93 Honda Accord has a very high build quality. That's why we all love them so much. A 90-93 Accord was around $20K US MSRP when they were sold new. Now it's about 15 years later and a new 4 cylinder Accord is still around $20K US.

A properly maintained Honda in a rust free climate will easily go 300,000 miles and 4 or 500,000 miles isn't out of the realm of possibilities. This is your 1st car. Spend your money on maintenance before making "upgrades".
It really is a labor of love making a neglected CB7 with "normal wear and tear" into something worth being proud of.

Why does every Aussie on here have the 4ws model! Dammit! I wish we got that here!

You'll find that your CB is a very reliable car. It also has a lot of performance potential (especially if it has a manual transmission). In searching around for a second car, I have a hard time finding something that's comparable in my important categories: performance, upgradability, reliability, affordableness (if that's not a word, it is now!), comfort, style, and ease of repair.

Honestly, the CB7 (and it's variations) can almost double it's stock horsepower quite easily, and rather inexpensively. In stock form, it's got decent power, and decent handling. The most common problems are usually quite minor (window regulators, main relay, axles, rear 1/4 panel rust...) When something DOES break, fixing it isn't insanely expensive. The interior is roomy and comfortable, and my 215,000 mile seats have no sag in the cushioning. They style is classic. It's not a box, it's not a bubble... the CB7 style is clearly an older design, but it's not OLD looking (compared to something like the 1990 Toyota Camry). Finally, I do much of my own work. With the assistance of the guys here on the board, there's not much I can't do.

                    Welcome to the forums!

I am happy to hear that your first car is going to be a 4th generation accord. My first car was, and still is, my 1992 Honda Accord LX. I have heard nothing but positive remarks about this type of car so I made sure I found one that was taken care of over the years for a reasonable price! Mine is an automatic running on everything stock with 198,XXX miles. You'll see that a majority of guys here are running 300k+ miles on their cars, and still running strong because that have been taken care of so well. You will have your car for a long time.

Enjoy the forums and the excellent advice these guys have to give!!

Be sure to upload so pictures of your car so everyone can comment! I still have to get some picture of my own car up...

Not to mention after you get all the quirks fixed youll end up spending most of your paycheck on it lol, idk if thats good or bad?

                          Thnx for welcome fellas =)

I've got the confirmed CB7 in my garage now =) =)

Hmm. and its also a Automatic.. soo not sure about the performance side of things... but i do have 1 question.... when ever i start to accelerate in D4 (4th gear on auto tranny).. when the car auto shifts from Gear 1 >> Gear 2.. i feel the car lunge forward a little...not sure if i explain properly.. But its sort of like... you can feel the gear change distinctly, as if it were a manual... Doesn't happen from 2nd Gear>3rd Gear> 4th Gear as much.. but i can really feel it from 1st Gear> 2nd Gear..

                          Is that normal???

O, another thing i was looking at the Engine code.. the first couple of digits are F22A9XXXXXXXXXX instead of F22A6... is that normal?? i didn't know F22A9 existed =S

F22A9 exists as a non-USDM engine. We need to have a sticky on non-USDM engine specs since we already logged plenty on domestic F's and H engines.

The hard shifting is just about normal. Mine's and auto also and it does the same thing. Yes, the A9 is a non-usdm engine, not unheard of or unusual, just not common in the states. Lets us know a few details about your cb i.e; colors(inside and out), coupe or sedan, etc. You will find that everyone on this site will tell you to do your own thing, which is true, but they will also help when in need. This is a good site to be a part of and, depending on your lifestyle/free-time, you may find it hard to go a day without logging on, lol. Welcome!
