Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Bummer...

    Okay, so I understand the need to keep "newbies" from pushing up multiple posts. There are a lot of people that seem to just spam forums with junk. That said, the fact that I have not put up a bunch of comments does not make me a newbie to mechanics.

    I have been working on cars for over 20 years now. I rebuilt my first lawnmower engine when I was six years old in 1983. However, due to the fact that I don't find a need to put up a bunch of b.s. I am considered a "newbie" and am prohibited from even buying from the classifieds.

    Seems kind of a bummer that the people that spend less time putting up superfluous comments are therefore considered less expert that the people that could possibly be posting tons, but putting up junk...

    Okay, my rant is done. I think I will start posting junk up. I want to buy a cam gear!

        I concur WD .. but its a good call by the admins and mods nonetheless ..

        We had major issues with noobies in the past (not that this solution cured it all)
        But, its helped somewhat .. alltho, I digress .. lol .. it'll prolly never be 100% perfect.
        Its so difficult to please everyone .. but at the same time .. its fun to please most.

        BTW .. welcome to the site ..
        Did you bore and stroke that Toro Lawnmower also? lol .. J/K .. I'm sure you'll have penty
        to add to the community in the long run .. we're a friendly and kind bunch .. for the most part ..

          Actually, we had that mower for about ten years after I rebuilt it the first time. The motor went the second time a few year later and yes, I had a bit of fun with it. I replaced the engine with a 8.5 hp industrial engine (up from a 5 hp regular...). I also had a rear wheel assemble from an Acura that I had at the time. The funny part about that assembly was that under load from the weight of the car, it was making noise. Under its on weight (free spinning) it was fine. I figured it was probably better than the assembly that was stock with the mower, so I found a smaller pulley than stock and set the mower in motion. While I had the motor off the deck, I painted the deck black with red flames and put a K&N filter on it. (Not really that impressive as K&N actually has a lot of small engine stuff...).

          I had quite a bit of fun with my friends after that was done. We were in our teens and had fun trying to find out what the mower would chop up. We took an old garden hose and sent that through without any problem. At one point, I caught a field mouse in it (seriously, I didn't try to do that, the sucker was hiding in the lawn). That made a mess.

          The mower also got put completely under water at one point. I dried it out with a good fan and it fired right up. When we moved to a smaller house that didn't have a lawn, we gave it to one of my dad's friends. The last I heard, the hot rod mower still ran. The best part is that it didn't have any of the blankety blanking OSHA stuff on it.

          You should have seen what my brother and I did when we found three old broken down motorcycles abandoned at a friend's farm...

            that mower must have CRUISED man, I wish i had that thing right now. I could make some mad money by using that thing eh tomi lol

                Welcome to the site.

                Yes, I find it true that there are some members on this board that just posts irrelevant information to the original thread just to raise the post counts. But if you are very knowledgeable then I am sure you should have no problems or issues answering questions that may help the other members.

                Don't take it personally when I say that I just heard about it all too many times about a new members posting on any forum claiming that they have had 10, 20, 30, etc amount of years experience but to not know answers to such basic problems. I am not doubting you but doing a rant of my own I guess.

                BTW, what cam gear are you looking for?

                    X2 this is very true. You would be surprised at the number of really basic questions some of the n00b's ask. Many of them could find the answers by simply searching. And I dont believe that there is one single person on here that knows CB's inside and out. We all have our areas that we are still learning just some have more then others. And like was said in the previous posts, if you are this knowledgeable then you will have no trouble getting the first 30 posts. And just as a FYI, under you sn where it says newcomer, that will read the same until you get 100 posts I believe it is. Correct me someone if that number is wrong. Welcome aboard. Later

                        I am drooling over the AEM Tru Time gear that WilliamSVT has for sale. I am not foolish enough to thing it is going to make my little wagon catch my friend's STI's but I have to do the timing belt anyway so...

                        I am looking at the underdrive pulleys as well. Any comments on the cheapy Ebay pulleys? Is this one of those things that I get what I pay for? The premise behind machining a pulley is pretty darn simple, and with the proper equipment, I would try my hand at it, but that doesn't always mean it is well executed.

                            Do you by any chance know what materials the ebay pulleys use? What their tolerance levels are? I know that the AEM ones are made from billet 6061 T-6 aluminum and Unorthodox uses lightweight 6061-T6 billet aluminum

                              I have asked a few of the companies and I have gotten two replies saying that they are using "billet" aluminum. Which tells us two things: 1) jack and 2) s*&t...

                              I sent a link to one of the responses explaining the different types of aluminum. Maybe they will be able to figure it out from there.
