Hey guys,

I have 2 cars, a CB7 and a 88' Lude.

My question is about the 88 Lude. Is not the 4WD version but it has 4 brake discs [is not 2 front discs and 2 rear drums]. My question is, since it has 4 brake discs and pads, does that mean that all 4 brake when i press on the brake? or only the 2 front and the rear are for the Emergency Brake????

Just curious how that works in cars.

btw: my 88 is a 5spd if that helps

All 4 brake. If they were drums, the same would be true.

4ws = 4 wheel steering it has nothing to do with ABS...All 4 brakes operate the front ones do the main work since it is carrying most of the momentum and weight thats why the front wears out quicker than the rear. The ebrake cable has its own drum style brakce behind the rotor to hold it in place.

Actually the ebrake on them doesn't have the internal drum...it clamps the pads to the rotors just as with the regular brake. Unless they changed it on the SI.
Make sure to keep the ebrake exercised and the mechanism (especially at the calipers) lubed. I had to have the rear pads replaced two or three times (I think calipers at least once, but my mech. was able to save them a couple times, too) on my 88 S till I learned to use the ebrake daily and lube the caliper whenever the wheels had to come off.

The tranny didn't shift well into 2nd at high RPMs, but the fluid was only partially changed once when the I replaced the clutch, and I had no idea what was put in it (uncle was helping me). As with the CB, I'd say just find a fluid or combo that works well in it.

4ws = all 4 wheels steer.. Nissan also has it, the HICAS system IIRC

4wd = all 4 wheels are driven
