ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

You don't have much to go with a dark hood, since everything has been colormatched. Of course, getting another hood to be colormatched won't be cheap.

I say go for it. A nice OEM style CF hood looks quite nice, on any color.

I'm heading to bed now, but if someone doesn't help you by the morning, I'll give it a shot. Can't get the weave pattern, but I can at least mess with the color to make it look the right shade.

I think blackhoused headlights and a CF hood would look good. Cant tell if you have fogs or not, but if not, they would look good too

One thing i should mention, if you have careless drunken friends denting your cheap, metal, OEM hood, whats to say they wont dent/crack/ruin your expensive, new, CF hood...

I voted no because I am lazy and wouldn't want the extra upkeep. What paint code is that btw? It's not Laguna Gold Metallic.

It's not a stock paintjob. No stock lips came painted, so that's a respray... probably not exactly the same as the stock color. It's an SE, so they did come in that gold-ish color. Not terribly rare... just somewhat, since SEs are rather uncommon themselves.

A CF hood has no more upkeep cost than a normal hood. It will eventually fade, and then need to be replaced (unless you can deal with a faded hood). Once it fades, it can also be painted. To get a new colormatched hood, it would take a good bodyshop... even then, it might not be dead-on. It'd be best to respray the entire car to ensure the color was even throughout.

I added a little texture. It would still be a bit shinier than that, but the texture looks neat

Hmmmm.... not sure if i actually like that or not

Its champaigne metallic silver (i'll check the paint code on my lunch break)

The bottom moldings were painted to match the rest of the car. But i don't think tha the whole car is a respray.

RyanHartC2 - same colour so it is stock on SE's

if i were to get a new (oem) hood it would be about $700ish. And do this to make it match the rest of the car (paint wise) X - Kote

I don't think the carbon fiber one really match's anything on the car. My Gramlights are gray so that doesn't help either.

Thanks deevergote for doing the chop, im going to have to think about this one.

If it's not a respray, then it's OLD paint... it'll be VERY difficult to match it properly. That x-kote seems to be like an expensive version of the Rustoleum paintjob that I'm doing to my 86 hatchback

If you're willing to pay $700 for a new OEM hood, that might cover the cost of professional colormatching... Either way, it's a pain.

If your car isn't resprayed, that's impressive.

i hope its ok to use other peoples pics from the site...

this one looks close enough eh?

                        damn! that one looks good.

how long till it fades. I live in vancouver. It rains alot, but its hot and lots of direct sunlight for 4-5 months. I don't plan to drive it snow next year, it will be under a car cover but prob. not undercover (garage). Approx. i know its hard to tell. If i maintain it will it still fade?

I got a quote for about $250 for the x-kote for my old hatchback prob. $300 for the accord...
---- cost of hood ($150) + $300 for paint for just the hood + 300 x-kote. or $300 to get it blended to the rest of the car.

or i could go through insurance pay a $300 deductible and get the x-kote thing later.

                        Paint Code is: YR-505M
