ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    What to do....

I recently got a perfect condition 1992 Burgundy EX coupe 5 speed with a knocking F22 for $500. I only drive Civics, I've owned 10 different ones, and I got the Accord because:

    1. It was cheap.

    2. I had a spare H22A4, tranny (well, two trannys but I sold one), P13, peak-and-hold injectors, and OBD-1 H22A harness for free from a customers Civic that I replaced with a B18C1.

    3. I figured I could just throw the two together and sell it and make a buck.

But, now I'm looking at the car and thinking, I would really like to have cruise control and a sunroof. (my current Civic is a 1996 CX LS/VTEC) So, should I keep it as a daily driver, or sell it for $2000?

BTW whats gas mileage in an H22 EX Coupe?

Sure. If you have a project car a spare reliable car is always nice to have.

      Keep it.

The h22 should get pretty good mileage. Id say 22/24+ MPG.

Well, I have a Cherokee as my dd right now. Gas mileage is my only concern in keeping the car. I get 18 in town, 20 on the highway in Jeep on 87. The H22 will need 93, so taking that into consideration I need to get around 27 to 28 to really make it worth my while.

You swapping an h22a or are you keeping the f22a. If you want gas mileage leave it stock and just maintain it. That should give you high 20s.

No, that F22 is no longer with us. It was knocking when I got it, so I just floored it until two of the rods went through the block. Made a nasty puddle of oil. I hate SOHC engines, I wouldn't keep the F22 anyway.

You might be able to get high 20s out of an H. Youd have to maintain it though.

But even at that...give it a try. Might be your....."Turncoat".....

The f22a motors are always shunned. they are capable of producing decent power numbers for cheap. Its just like a sohc d16 but better. It has what most civics dont have which would be torque in the mid range. Anyway I can talk about the f22a all I want but since you already got rid of it its pointless. If you still have that SH trans you have to modify the intermediate shaft a bit to work with the accord because of that ATTS system. Next the h22a can get up to 380-400 a tank with the stock p13. People have gotten it higher than 400 so it depends how you drive.

Well, it's pretty far down the list of things to do. I have two customer cars to get out of the garage, a 4th gen Civic ZC swap and 6th gen Civic front end rebuild. Then I have to work on two 'yotas. I'm helping a friend with body work and paint on his MR2 Turbo and I have a Corolla that needs a head gasket. I have a guy that has an H22 CB7 that I do a little work on, mostly just suspension stuff and a rear disc conversion, but he says he doesn't really keep track of his mileage and I've never rode in his car. Is the H22 in the Accord quick, or is still slow? I've rode in an H22 'lude w/NOx and n/a H22 Civics and they were fairly quick. I'm just thinking that the Accord is a much heavier chassis than the Civic/'teg. My Civic weighs 2200 and I'm in the low 14's on street tires with 200hp and it feels pretty decent from my ass dyno. I really like the look of the CB7, but I wish I had a green one instead of the burgandy.

Oh, I don't have the SH tranny, I had two M2Y4's and sold one.

Also, for gas mileage, I could just keep the F tranny. It shifted great and I believe they have steeper gears. How's the performance difference between the two?

F trans is gonna fail if you want to go fast. Either way you should be fine with the h22 trans on the h22a. People still get 400+ a tank as I mentioned. I get 380-400+ a tank depending how I drive on my m2s4. Well if you consider the accord depending on trim stock runs high 16-17 sec quarters and slapping an h22a with proper drivetrain will net you 14.8 if not faster I think thats an improvement. With the F22A trans your gonna be seeing mid 15 if not 16 seconds which is not an improvement at all. One of my buddies with his h22a has a best of 14.8 with bald tires and slipping clutch which means there is still something there that can be had. Most people can break mid to high 14s with an h22 setup if they can drive.

EDIT: I have owned both the F22A trans and m2s4 (H23a1) trans on my h22a. The best I could get with the f22a was a 15.7. But the problem with that was my Luk clutch was giving out (pulled it out later and pressure plate took a shit), crappy ass ebay tune, and crap tires. I am pretty sure if I fixed the clutch issue and tire I could have gotten something better. Same goes for the tune but thats been changed now. The h23a1 I havent run yet but it is a noticeable improvement to the F. Acceleration is a def improvement. Cruising is fail but I still get pretty good gas mileage so I cant complain.
