guys i live in Toronto, Canada, and as u know we dont get the best winters up here. This weekend im going out to buy a new intake kit for my a6. Im leaning more towards an AEM cold air intake than a short ram intake. my question is if i get a CIA, would i have problems driving in snow?

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

CAI in winter time

yea, we got large amounts of snow up here this year. just get a SRI to be safe. you don't want any water going up, and with the CAI and all the snow, it is much more likely to happen.Originally posted by mozzandherbWell I wouldn't recommend going through a large pile of snow or water, honestly though if you are concerned then get a SRIOriginally posted by deevergote. And please, for the love of God, type like a human being!

damn right we got a lot of snow, and here in Ottawa none of it has melted yet...yesterday morning it was 25 below, another record set that I didnt want to see being set...but yeah there is not much of a difference between the CAI and the SRI, and I would recommend just buying a generic intake with a K&N filter...I believe the AEM intakes are overpriced, but that's just my opinion, but you will get the same performance out of a cheaper brand than you would with an AEM

if you do get a cold air intake and are worried about water/snow ingestion, then get something called a Bypass valve, it'll save your engine during heavy rains, trust me, that thing works.

I wouldnt recommend getting CAI during the snow season. Havent ran it but from this past season driving in snow, deep snow. I had snow packed up the fender wells like no other and scraped it out a couple times just cause i could feel a power difference from the snow package on the tires...
