ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    timing belt adjuster nut

Alright, so once again, I am going the h23 head swap (slowly...)

I have run into a handful of problems so far, but this is my worst problem.

The nut for the timing belt tensioner is stripped to shit. I have used almost every tool I can think of to try and remove this piece. I need to remove so I can
    A) get to the last bolt holding on my water pump
    B) Loosen the tension so I can get the new timing belt on there.

I am truly out of ideas to get this nut off. It is almost a perfect circle. The only other alternative is to torch it, but I don't access to that.

Any ideas? The timing belt and balance belt look brand new, so if worst comes to worst I don't have to replace the water pump (putting my faith in the fact that whoever did the last timing belt job, actually replaced the water pump... and then continued to strip the shit out of the nut)

I have both the h23 belt (fits over the tensioner and such, but has too much slack) and the gsr belt (wayyy too tight).

Use a small pipe wrench or a bolt out kit from sears.

I did. I used those sockets that dig into the nut as you loosen it. All it did was strip it even more

Get a pipe wrench they are actually better than the bolt out in that situation. Once its new and sharp it will bite into the nut and get it off.

well the thing is, if you look at the nut, it's on a spot where it aint too easy to access. I can lower it a bit, but, definitely not enough to cut it with an angle grinder

How about a drimel with a cuting disc?
Do you have a pic of the area. To be honest i've only cracked the hood of this car to run the power wire for an amp "owned the car for 3 days now".

Look at js593's sig. It's in between the right side of his valve cover (the blue thing in the middle of the engine bay) and the fender wall.

because its stripped and stuck and no other tool this guy could think of worked?

i was going to suggest hacksawing it off, and then buying a new stud and nut from the dealer, they arent very expensive.

if you remove the alternator and ps pump you will have lots of space to use a pipe wrench. It fits in the spot to take out the nut. I've actually done it before thats why im telling you to do it that way.

I just got a pipe wrench. I'll try it out tomorrow.

I bought a new nut and washer from Honda the other day, If worst comes to worst I'll hack it off and buy the stud as well.
