Main Relay Question

SHould it click everytime I try to start my car? It makes a clicking sound. I took my main relay out and it did not appear to have any cracks. I got it put back in and it still didnt start. Where should I look?

I don't recall the main relay that it should make a click sound.

The click you're talkin about...does it click and your orangey check engine light disappears or stays on or does both now and then???

OR..
Does it click when you try to crank your engine?

If its the click i think you're referring to...then it may be your Starter.
But i think you should give out some more descriptions/symptoms.

Edit:...Main relays, i believe only makes a whinning noise instead. But i may be wrong...but then again im speaking from experience.

my starter is good, and my battery is brand new, couple days old...anyway when i try to turn over my motor the main relay is making a click sound then the starter try to to start but the engine isn't doing anything, the car is acting like it ran out of gas but that is not the case. so i need to make sure im getting spark or my flywheel is missing teeth which i doubt. or the fuel pump, when i removed main relay it did not have any cracks or anything like that... how do i make sure im getting spark?

hmmMm i believe main relays can also malfuntion internally, but dont take my word for that..But this click noise...is it only one or how many?

Anyway the method for checking spark...i think you would have to have a 2nd buddy to check under the hood while one is trying to crank the car. Remove one plug and have the car cranked to see/hear any spark for each plug one at a time.

sometimes its one click and sometimes its two clicks now, remove the actuall spark plug or the wire

well i have established that there is no spark..what should i do to get spark? im pretty sure my firing order is correct but no fire....

you need new sparks...might as well new spark plugs too.
But if the issue still exists....it may be your dizzy (distributor).

well the spark plugs are fairly new, i guess im gonna pick up the some new wires cap and rotor from autozone... what should i check if that dosn't work... fuel fliter and fuel pump?

Igniter is bad...

its suppose to click...as it turns on your fuel pump and certain things related to turning on the car ...but no spark means ignitor/coil or ground

It would most likely your fuel filter than your fuel pump. (depending on mileage you have). But Check the Ignitor/coil the guys are referring to is in your dizzy fyi. Its less difficult to do than ur Fuel Filter or Fuel pump.

try to checking the alternater plug and harness. it could be old and nasty and might not be geting a clean charge.

did you just but your starter i bought one for my 90 ex sedan went out the next day but lucky with the lifetime warrenty it was replaced frre of charge so i would go with trying the starter if you recently replaced it
