ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    H23 swap on CB7LX

Hi new here to the site. I'm considerng doing a H23 swap on my 92 LX auto. I found a good engine with tranny. What ecu and tcm do I need to do this swap? how noticeable is the power increase compared to my stock?

Wow... that was SOOO much help.

You'll want the ECU and TCU from the Prelude Si, the one with the H23.

      It's a 160hp engine, with more torque. Yes, it's a noticeable increase from 125hp. No, it's not a rocket.

You can use a p19 tcu, but as for the ecu for the h23... I'm not sure... I know the h22 is a p13.... hope that some of this helps. Swaps are funnn!

The H23 uses a P14. Or, you can always go a chipped ECU route, which is useful for tuning.

I am running an H23 and its nice, I miss Vtec of the H22 but overall its still fun, Either swap is good. I got my ECU of Ebay honda parts connection or something like that, and worked well plus fast shipping. I like the H23 many pluses its cheap, torque monster, and Its a hell of a lot of FUN.

Which engine will most likely to pass smog in Cali? I read somewhere here that in order to maybe pass smog is to have the engine, tranny, ecu and tcu from the same model year. is it true?

The transmission and transmission computer have nothing to do with emissions.

If you have a USDM engine and ECU, you should pass smog just fine, assuming all the emissions components are functioning properly. JDM engines can cause more of a problem. If you get the H23A1, you don't have to worry... that's a USDM engine only.

The H22 TCU and ECU are not difficult to find at all. Ebay, junkyards, forums... You just need to look. Or you could get a full package from places like www.hmotorsonline.com (not dirt cheap, but I wouldn't trust anyone else, personally... I got my motor from them) and they'll supply everything for you.

As for a chipped ECU, as suggested... unless you get that tuned, it's a bad idea. That's a much more advanced modification. Not one that should even be considered for someone at this level.

I got my motor from steve and he only had JDM ecu and if lives in places like cali they will automatically fail you for the the ecu, which I assume he does.

Either motor will pass smog if you run the USDM ECU and do the basics like cap and rotor plugs wires and a cat if yours is old, Me I did all that and still didnt pass my NOx emissions were too high like 3x too high. If that happen you just need to do seafoam or take apart the intake manifold and clean all the carbon built up.

Am I being a whore thread?

thank you again for the adviced. I'm doing my swap when I get back from deployment, so I guess I still have time to look around for a good engine.

I'm not exactly a fan of turbo.

I have an AEm intake and DC header on, will it fit the H22/H23?

the intake yes may just be a little small and not let the h22 live to the full power and the header may fit the h23 but wont fit the h22.
