ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Broken exhaust bracket

I was under the car tonight and I found this:

This is the bracket that holds the exhaust to the bottom of the engine, just in front of the flex pipe. I don't see it on the part blow up page for exhaust for the OEM setup.

I was looking at the cat to see if there was a way I could stop it from being noisy. Don't think this is why, though.

mine's not attached, I cut it off since it was rattling. It doubt it affects anything on my car. Its already supported in 3 spots anyways so i say hack it off.

Number 11, I think. It looks like you have an a4/a6 (dual downpipe), so that's what I chose on the page.

Mine isn't bolted up right now either, and it doesn't make a noise. Yours might, though, because it looks like the top part of the bracket might hit the pan/bottom of the block. I'd take those two nuts off and take the upper part of the bracket off. You could probably find one in the junkyard for cheap.

Sweet. I want to put it back on there because the car is low enough that I don't want the exhaust to sag at all. Plus, it MIGHT be bending the piping near the cat enough to make it rub/vibrate on something else.

Side note - high flow cat, isn't that just a 'test pipe' ?

I was thinking of getting one, since there's no emissions here. I have a buddy who welds for a living.

2 different things, but the things they call high flow cats on ebay r not high flow cats they r test pipes. a high flow cat is going to cost u a couple hundred bucks, not the 50 or so they go for on ebay. if u just want a test pipe in place of ur cat, just take ur car to the local muffler shop and they will cut out ur cat and weld a piece of pipe in there for like 20 bucks. at least thats how much it was where im at.

Mine broke off just like that. Remove it and go on living. A lot of people have problems with the tab breaking off the header, not so much the engine

Had the installer take a look at the exhaust, he fixed that bracket, and NO MORE NOISE.

              Hehe, thank God!
