ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Lowering Tilt Steering column.....

Hi peeps. I have a 92 CB I am changing week by week and it has a stock airbag steering wheel but my beef is that the wheel will only lower as far as the lever on the bottom left of the column will allow. As you know the stock seats in a CB sit a little low anyway and the wheel doesn't drop low enough for my preference. Is there any way to safely make the column drop lower without having an effect on the steering itself? Thanks!

I've just fitted an aftermarket steering wheel to my CB7. In order to keep the the cruise control function I had to make my own hub kit (with provision to mount the cruise control buttons) and since I was doing this took the opportunity to make it long enough to bring the wheel a couple of inches closer to the driver (it's wonderful, thanks for asking).

Problem is that because of the steering column angle this also raises the wheel somewhat, so I had a look to see if I could increase the degree to which the steering column can be lowered. My first thought was possibly extending the slots in which the column rises / lowers, but they can't be extended as not enough metal exists at the bottom of the slots to do so.

The most likely way to lower the column seems to be by shimming between the bodywork and the upper column bracket. I can see two nuts on studs at the upper column mount, and loosened them both, however the column bracket refused to lower so there must be a hidden fastener somewhere.

In the end I've just raised the seat a little, not a perfect solution but OK...
    Regards from Oz,
    John.

damn that kinda sucks. I was speaking with someone about this today and he said that depending on the length of the bolts attached to the column bracket, that I may be able to "shim" them to lower them. Not sure about that either. Thanks for the replies!
