ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Ignition switch problem?

    Ignition switch problem?

I keep having this issue where the car refuses to start. I thought it was many things and tried to swap parts out and waste my money. I think I finally narrowed it down to an ignition issue.

The car starts 20 times and will leave me stranded once periodically.

Today I was stuck at the Burger King Parking lot, LOL

After much frustration, I hit under the steering column near the ignition switch and it started right up.

so I already was leaning towards this but it seems me hitting it and then it working confirmed the culprit?

it probably isn't the switch itself, rather loose wiring or connection.

Don't know how to remove the switch to check it.

now I know why it started once when I jiggles some wires near the fuse panel, the isnition connects to that point. Makes sense.

it could also be the main relay if you've never changed that part out. It also sits under the dash, so you could just be banging that instead of the ignition switch....thus making it fire.

There's a DIY that is as simple as re-soldering connections in it and it'll work again.

yeah accords are notorious for their ign switch problems, to remove the swith you need to take the cover on the column and lower the wheel you will see the swith at the bottom side, the switch itself has about three screws. Two of them you will need to drill the top off, or loosen by using a screw driver and hammer and hitting it at an angle. Good luck but remember to disconnect the battery and if possible take the part with you to the parts store to compare since they like t give wrong parts and not refund.
