Can I use the copper colored RTV sealant as a gasket for my header to block and header to down pipe? I need to replace the gaskets because there bad but Megan Racing is out of them right now (they're gaskets were pretty crappy anyhow). Any help would be appreciated.

no, u probably will have exhaust leak and that stuff will do no good to your head, you don't have to get them from megan either, there are better places.

on my old ca ri used an oem gasket from block to head and from header to down pipe i used the gasket sealer crap. i bought the header used and it didnt bring any bolts or gaskets. it actually held up fine with no leaks at all.

where would be a good place to look for new gaskets at? Will the origional steel gasket work?Gaber

when i installed my megan header, i tried reusing the original steel gasket but found that that leaked. so i had to buy a new one from autozone but that's all i'm using from the header to downpipe is the copper gasket maker and i don't have any leaks there.

you could also get a gasket from f22parts.com or tasauto.com or probably just go on ebay even. Granted, those cheap cardboard like ones are crap. I had one of those literally blow apart on me while in use to give me a nice leak.Comment
