ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Suspension Q

So im starting to be annoyed with the bouncy suspension.

Not too long ago I bought coilover lowering springs and had them installed with stock shocks & struts.

Is there anything I can do about this besides buying new shocks & struts?

If not, then what would be a good economic kit for daily driving?

Please dont tell me to go with a expensive kit, there is a reason why I own a Cb7

if you get a replacement spring and damper combo from a local car parts dealer, they should last you a while.

Other than that, I suggest OEM springs with Tokico HP (Blue) dampers.

Since the springs are brand new, they should be pretty tight; the higher rated HP damper will be perfect to reign in the spring rate.

well yea, but my springs are only a month old, so that would be a waste of money for me.

I like the lowered height, that is the only reason why i bought new springs for my car. The big gap on the front from the fender to tire is not good to look at..

Get the Tokico HPs or KYB GR2s. They're about as cheap as you can get, and the quality is decent. Either should last a good long time.

If u do get the tokico hp the tech guy said u can only lower them 1.25 inches max, or u will bottom out. If u want the real low look, u need to get the true coilover kit with the dampers.

I've seen the HPs and GR2s on some pretty low drops. They aren't great, but they usually hold... unless you slam into potholes and stuff. True, they aren't really MADE for a low drop... but they'll deal with it. A hell of a lot better than stock stuff!

The best thing is to get a true performance setup. I have H&R Race springs and Koni Yellows (got it all used for $300). The great thing about Koni is that they're guaranteed for life. If they blow, you send em back to the manufacturer to get new ones. That means used ones aren't a bad idea.

They deal with it but the ride quilty will be garbage. The thing u have to remember is u have to have adequate suspension travel, that your setup can handle or they will bottom out. Thats the #one thing people mess up with trying to lower a car

Very true. They're still way better than blown stockers, though. If you want ride quality or good handling, you HAVE to spend the money for it. Seeing as he's lowered on springs and stock struts now, and he intends to stay lowered... HPs or GR2s are the best route. It'll be safer, at least.

Ok so I have been doing my homework on the Tokico HPs but what I find is that most do not recomend them for a lower car, im not quite sure how much lower my car is, but I believe it is about 2" front, 1.75" rear.

I dont want something decent to ride, I want a comfortable ride, something that wont hurt my back after 10 mins, but with my lowered height. Is that possible?

The Ebay coilovers will.....or already might have killed your rear struts already. The reason mine bounces now, is because my back struts are dead. I've searched.....and searched....and searched, and the best....and most inexpensive setup I found, for 4 struts, and 4 springs, is 400 bucks. If I were to go any cheaper, I'd be replacing them again not too late in the future.

I myself, bought those Ebay coilovers and put them on.
