ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Coldair Intake

I am thinking about getting a coldair intake for my accord.
Car had 200k so i dont want to put a 300 dollar intake in it.
You guys know of any good cheap intakes?

just the generic ones on ebay, if you do go with a generic don't use those crappy filters they give you. Buy something better like K&N.

I have an Option Racing Cold Air Intake from Racing_Guys on ebay and I use the 'crappy filter' that comes with it, and it has worked great since the day I put it on.

I'm sure an AEM or K&N filter would be better to some minuscule extent, but I have no issues with my Option Racing filter

Make claims and bandwagon all you want, it's your money you're wasting

I'm sure the majority will agree with you, I'm also sure the vast majority of those people hasn't owned an Option Racing filter.

CAI is nothing more than larger diameter tubing for your intake and a more free flowing filter at it's end. There is NO cold air...it's really a misnomer actually and misleading.

You do not have to suck air from the fender to see gains as the air temperature has nothing to do with the gains, the air temperature in the engine bay is hotter only while you are sitting still, once you get above 15mph the temperature in the bay and outside equalize. Of course even I would not want my intake pulling from the engine bay...under the battery...somewhere NOT behind the radiator and away from your exhaust manifold/header is best...which is why on our cb7's those holes to the left of the stock intake is best.

The effects of "CAI" are similar to boring your throttle body, a larger diameter intake tubing and more free flowing filter will allow air to enter your engine more easily.

For the piping/tubing, smooth metal works well...ribbed tubing would cause turbulence.

For best gains keep it as straight as possible, if you do suck air from the fender, do not have it too low or else a water will be a potential problem. And make sure the filter is not exposed to debris from the tire.

I see a lot of these setups going under the battery to the front of the bumper somewhere...imo that's a good spot.

Tubing is tubing, as long as it's smooth and doesn't have any abrupt turns it will work. If you feel like spending $100, $200, or more for a CAI, go for it, after all it's your money.

And I will agree with what many of the people here are saying, buy a good filter. Call it a gimmick, overpriced, or whatever you want, but AEM, K&N, and a few others make good filters that I think are well worth the extra $$$.
