ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

You can take that belt off and replace it with one that is shorter so it will only run the Alt (just get a belt for an LX? I think, the base model accord that didn't come with AC. Or just say an alt belt for an accord without AC). You might see some benefits in power from that, because the AC is some drag on the motor. Really, though, if the AC isn't on there isn't very much drag.

You don't have to take the whole thing off if you don't want to, which is really quite a bit of work. The only reason you would want to is to remove the weight. The compressor is not even 20 lbs. so it isn't really worth it in my opinion.

            There are only 2 belts.

            1) Power steering (if equipped)
            2) A/C belt that also loops around the Alt.

well my car has power steering and it has the ac belt around it,
but i need a short belt to just run it around the alt. right?
and if i disconnect the ac belt and buy a short one,
where would i run the other one from?

When the A/C isn't on (clutch disengaged) it doesn't have much drag on the engine.

                Just keep it.
                wat?

The AC and Alt are on the same belt, the Power Steering has it's own belt. Different number of ribs. So, you'd keep the same PS belt, and get a shorter Alt belt. Just tell the parts place to get an alternator belt for an Accord without AC.

I can't remember if it is the LX or the DX. AC was an option on the base models. Usually they will ask if you have AC or not, so just say no and they will get you the right one.

well since the DX is lower than the LX, I'd assume its that model. But if you want to remove ALL the A/C components, its about a 55lb weight savings. Compressor, lines, etc.

i'd suggest leaving all the components for the a/c on the car and just bypass it with a new belt for your engine without a/c, like benji said. honestly, the little bit of weight from the condenser and all the lines and everything won't really make a difference. plus if you ever go to sell your car, it'd be nice to still have that a/c on there, it might help you get more out of it.

the pulley spins freely when the a/c is turned off, so i cant see removing it as a benefit. its very useful (for driving daily), doesnt weigh very much, and only causes drag when you want it to. and it helps defrost the windshield and keep you cool on those HOT days when for some reason you need to have your windows closed.
