ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

hood heat is VERY normal..its just the heat from the engine heating up the metal..but if its SUPER hot..then u might have an overheating problem..do you live in a hot area?

      You could wrap your header.

well its warm here, but not insane hot. i live in socal about 30 min inland. so warmer then san diego but not by much usually. and my temp never shows me going over the midway point on my heat gauge on the dash.

do you have a header? if your heat sheild is gone, this happens. make heat shield from sheet metal and attach it to the hood right over the header. (of course under hood)

I would not even go thru the trouble of making a heat shield. I would just wrap the header. The wrap is fairly cheap (I got mine for $15 and it was enough to do the whole header) and its pretty easy to do. Plus it is better for performance.

header wrap might be good for performance, but ive heard that header wrap traps dirt and water, and will rust out your header in no time.

Yes. There is really no way you can do it with the header on the car.

That is not true. I did mine on the car and it was not that bad. you just have to lay the wrap out in long loops and wrap it a little at a time. You could even cut it into smaller pieces and just overlap the seams to make it easier.

Well maybe there's less room with my H, but as a rule, if you want to do it properly, I recommend pulling the header.

Or get a DC header which I believe is ceramic, and wrap it before you put it on the car.

What I did to protect my hood was went with a thermal acoustical liner. Works great with my unshielded/unwrapped header, I've never had my hood get any warmer then the ambient temperature outside.

Not true, you can wrap the header just as well on the car, it simply takes more time. I would know because I've done it.

This is a very good product, I have a small version of this that is stuck on with adhesive and keeps that area from getting hot.
