ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    heater hose

my 1990 accord is having a problem with the anti-freeze i fill up the hole thing and when i drive around for a few hours its completely dry i know its a leak but im stumped i cant find it or even tell where its coming from im wondering if its a heater hose problem or can it be something else

Well, if you don't see any obvious leak then you probably have a blown head gasket or a cracked head, and it's all going out the tail pipe.

Pull all of your sparkplugs and see if any of them have a greenish tint on the end. If you've been combusting antifreeze, then you will see it. Or do a compression test if you have a gauge.

If its burning that much coolant it would run like utter ass and smoke about as much as a train in the 1920's.

I hear you on doing it your self but when you live in NYC and not that many tools it worth just having it done by a shop. it should be no more than $60 with parts included

also he wanted to change his oil himself rather than pay $23 to have it done...lmao

These guys that they pay to change oil all day at these quick lube places really dont have much experience. I have heard of them leaving pan plugs loose or not properly tightening filters. I do all my own work because I dont trust others. But im a diesel mechanic so its only natural for me to not want to pay others to do what I can do and have piece of mind knowing that its right.

yeah shops suck. they forgot to tighten my mom's drainplug in her van RIGHT before she went on a 1500 mile trip. ASSHOLES. Thats why I do my own shit.

Btw, if you did the HG yourself.....if it is a headgasket. You can save yourself about 1200 dollars. I did mine for about 600 give or take, including a 3 angle valve job w/ machining and pressure test done at a machine shop. Honda wanted 1400 to just put a new HG in and machine the head. So yeah, DIY work REALLY saves coin. This was my first HG I've ever done btw.

I had the same problem. The hose it goes inside the firewall on the back of the engine, right there under, way under the intake manifold. the picture benji put on is the right one. I live in florida. I don't need it. So I Bridge cap it. You, in opposite live in New York! Get it fixed properly on a real mechanic. Or do it yourself. You might fix it. I can guarantee a lot of aggravation but you will never learn if you don't try.
My tip: don't go straight to the hose, work on the parts around and make some space to work. Obviously, work on it when your car have cold engine.

                          Barrabas !!!

The same thing was happening to me. it would ownly happen when the radiator was under pressure. it turns out that it was the top hose.
                            So chek it out
