ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Just because the car stalled it doesn't mean it was the timing belt.

if you were driving and the t-belt no longer turned the cam and crank together as it is supposed to...via snap, pop, slip, lock...then then only way to determine if the engine is good is to do a leak test, compression check...if no good...follow with a measure of the valves. That will tell you if you 'doinked' a valve.

Most likely though, if the belt failed while driving the valves are bent. In this case, unless you plan to rebuild the engine for higher performance, it would be cheaper/simpler to get a working junk yard motor...or swap an h22.

Pull the valve cover and rotate the engine to see if the cam is still turning. No turn means no good.

i had this happen to me too... i bent some valves, i got the valves redone for $300 but was stupid cuz a few months later my whole motor went BOOM and i bought a whole working motor of some kid for $100...

if you indeed bent the valves than u may just, like posted above, by a new working motor...

            or time for an H22

an h22 can be bought for around $400 area used...well at some junk yards...vs pistons, valves, grind, other parts...bumped up compression means new piston rings...etc etc...or ...400 for an h22.

I've seen people quote some...extreme numbers. The ecu may add 40, the wiring harness...not sure...beauty of honda's, their electrical connectors are usually the same (among same year model).

BUT I need to emphasize that I can't really give an est. as I haven't done an est. myself for this swap. I'm going off of what it would cost for me to get a used motor in good shape, ecu, mounts, wiring harness, and ecu. The stock tranny can be utilized...and you know a h22 with 100k miles is still in good shape so a rebuild of the h MAY not be necessary. If I were more serious about said swap I would know more about actual cost. My actual cost will be parts only as I can do ALL the work myself...from actual drop to soldering to custom mounts.

Since I haven't done (looked into) it and seen what "other" issue will come up I really can't give you an idea...sorry...just going off parts I have priced in the past.

problem with rebuilding an old motor though...you're going to run into many problems (time to get it finished will be LONG as well) associated with rebuild of an old engine. Being the good 'ol f22 they won't be as bad as other cars...but still.

IMO, if it were me (I've always said if the f goes I'm swapping an H) I would swap in an h. But I would price it out based the OP's skill level with mechanics and customization. But again, I honestly can't tell you how much a swap is.

figure @ $2500 to 3k for a total conversion, that is taking into account getting a low mileage JDM H22 with trans, axles, harness and ECU. and labor installing it at a reputable shop that knows what they're doing.

$725 now in the bank for my swap (worked this morning driving a box van up to Saugerties filled with furniture, didn't have to unload it thank God!)
