ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

transmision swap for my 90 lx

so you may have read in another thread that i just found out that my sincros are going out and im thinking bout doing a swap instead of the rebuild. so here are my questions.....

i found a couple h23's already, i read in another thread that id have to dril and retap the mount, i saw this for the guys auto, and mine is a manual, do i need to do the same...

what other trani's would work? what year cars for those and h23?

yes you would need to tap and drill the 2 holes.unless you got the mount from http://explicitspeedperformance.net/MMK.html

Drilling and tapping is the least of your worrys, its not difficult. You can run onto mount issues that could cause enough of a misallignment that your axles will clunk while turning or break. Read the sticky about this swap a couple of times. If you can come up with the green for the explicit speed bushings they make for a super clean straight install.

ok so asuming i have the cash and all that. is it possible to do it myself? i got just basic jack stands and cherry picker, would i have enough room to drop it from the bottom? or what about stripping it down, towning (its free for me with AAA) having them swap it, then have them put in the trani, bushings, and taping the mount(if i dont find the lude mounts). then tow it back and put everything back on. would it be the same price to just have someone do everything?

-i know that alot to ask but would rather do it myself as just want to be able to have the experience and say i did it you know....

when i had my cd5 tranny put in two guys did it and they had a lift and yeah they dropped out the bottem... it will just take you a lil longer to do it by ur self. i dont think it would cost the same to have someone else do it cause they'll charge you for everything.

so it is possible to do it without a lift, just a cherry picker?

i figured i could just undo everything and then drop it underneath the car. then using a jack, raise it back up to the car with the new tranny.
