ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

uh, you don't have to pull the strut. look at a pic of a replacement arm and you'll see the bolts that have to come off. the nuts are in the engine compartment.

the bolts in the compartment are for your strut assembly
which you dont need to remove to take off your UCA

            anyway
along side those 3 bolts, are 2 larger bolts
            holding your control arm on
those 2, and one more at the other end at the ball joint
which im pretty sure has a coder pin in it

you dont have to take the strut out.

unbolt (2 10mm) the cover for the balljoint spindle. then take out the cotter pin and unbolt the 17mm castle nut. use a fork or hammer off the knuckle arm off the ball joint. then go in the engine compartment, and find the 2 17mm nuts holding the two anchors for the UCA and the UCA should come out fairly easily.

one of the nuts for the passenger side in the engine compartment is under the fuse box, so you have to unbolt the box or use a wrench to get under there.

                  no you dont.
                  just open your hood
then right next to those 3 strut bolts there are 2 way lager ones (one right in front, and one right behind it)
just take those out and the arm will fall out like a limp hotdog
then pull the cotter pin on the ball joint bolt
                  and unbolt that
and it should come right out

someone correct me if im wrong
so i dont just sit here and keep talking like a D bag

Disconnect the upper ball joint first, then the two 17mm nuts on top of the strut tower (inside the engine bay) that hold the upper wishbone bushes (and their housings) in place. The wishbone will fall downward and come out (might need to tap on top of the bush housing studs), with the bushes and bush housings still attached. It's an easy job, the hardest part being to seperate the ball joint.

I find that the best ball joint seperator is the kind that clamps onto the top of the suspension upright and pushes the ball joint out with a bolt bearing on the end of the threaded section of the ball joint stud (tip, leave the nut partially attached to the end of the stud so it doesn't pop right off and also helps protect the end of the thread). The fork style ones can easily damage the rubber dust boot.

                        John.
