ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Header wrap question.

For those who have wrapped their header...

1: How much does it take to cover it?
2: Did you do it on the car or off the car?

Its much easier and get better result if you do it off the car. When I bought header wrap for my bike it came with a chart saying how many feet of wrap to use with a certian length and diameter of tubing. Its a messy job because you have to presoak it then wrap, you dont want wrap juice all over your car, just your clothes .

I was just thinking that if I took it off it would give me a chance to clean up a few things too, so it's coming off.

Idea on how much? I really don't want to get more then I really need.

50'x2" worked for me. I did it on the car, its more work but doesn't mean you can't make it as nice as someone doing it off the car. Make sure and get the stuff damp too. Lets you wrap it tighter and then it kinda bonds to the header as soon as you start the car and let it warm up.

Yeah 50ft. roll should be plenty. Get the nice stainless wrap clamps, instead of cheapo hose clamps.

            Probably about $40-$50.

Reason I'm asking is that it's been painted with VHT for three years now and it needs a touch up in a few spots and thought this might be a better idea.
So it looks like I'll get 50 feet of the stuff.

I don't think I'll do my down pipe, then again you never know.

Ive thought about doing my down pipe. But I can see some scraps on mine. I think it would be a big mess and start unraveling if the wrapped downpipe started to scrape.

I've been lucky enough not to scrape my downpipe (now watch, tomorrow it's going to happen). I guess if I have enough left over I'll do it, otherwise it's staying the way it is.

Did you wrap the whole flex pipe? I was thinking of doing it, coz I just got a new one welded in, and I was thinking it could act as some sort of sound deadener, coz I heard the cheapo flex pipe tend to be a bit loud.

                        Another questions about header wrap...

Has anyone had any problem with the wrap rusting the header out?
Has anyone wrapped an already coated header?

I already have VHT on my header as you can see in this pic:

Do you think wrapping them will just bake the coating off?

Im sure the coating will prevent any chance of rust.

Also what brand of header is that? the pipes look tiny!...

The pipes look perfect to me. People need to realise size isn't all that matters and that huge primaries are for dyno queens. Your fine with wrapping them with that coating. It shouldn't flake or rust.
