ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    cam gears, pulleys, etc

was wandering if i should change my cam gears, pulleys, etc. the question is if i change these should i change camshaft( or crankshaft)

I'm not trying to be a smartass be could you be more specific??? You could change them to get rid of some parasitic loss and have everything spin slower and work the same as before and that would free up a few horsepower. If there is nothing wrong wrong with them then just replace them with some unorthodox pulleys or something as you can afford them. I don't know if they make them for a cb7 but I bet they do. Like I said be more specific please. I don't know a shit load but i'll be more than happy to help with what I can.

You're not even sure what parts you're talking about... so no. Don't touch a thing until you learn more about your car. You don't change the crankshaft without rebuilding the entire motor. It's located deep in the block.

Unless you have a DOHC motor, you only have one cam... and one cam gear... You don't need to upgrade the gear unless you know how to adjust it (and have a dyno on which to do so).

A camshaft upgrade often involves a valvetrain upgrade, which, again, requires taking the motor apart. You CAN do it without the valvetrain upgrade, but I personally wouldn't trust 16 year old valve springs to work well for very long.

Pulleys... get them, and get them installed by professionals... Do the accessory pullies only, and you'll be fine... as long as you don't have a crazy audio system (as the alternator pulley underdrives the alternator, and it won't charge the battery fast enough to keep up with a big system). If you get a crank pulley, don't get anything but Unorthodox Racing. Sure, there are cheap pulleys out there, but factor in the cost of a new engine when they blow up your old one, and they end up being VERY expensive.
