ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

make sure new O-ring is installed http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=88245

Reset your ECU by taking out the ECU Fuse and Put it back in. That should reset the code also.

You might have to set the timing also. Since the timing will be off with new distributor. (you need that special gun...i would take it to the shop and have them adjust the timing)

You WILL have to set the timing after.

The light is $40 from most autoparts stores. A shop might charge you half of that, and you won't have a new tool. I say just get the timing light. Charge your friends $5 to use it

Really? dang.. With that being said I will get my timing retimed then.
When I changed mine I just installed the way the old one was positioned , including the rotor position. I did not time it. So it's retiming for me.

          Sorry for thread jack.

I've been told that you can't do damage by having our distributors set to the extreme in any direction... but I'd still not risk it!

It depends on your engine, honestly. You can advance and retard safely within 2 degrees of stock... those points are marked on the flywheel, and easily seen with a timing light.

Changing the timing can move the powerband around. Generally, the stock 15 degrees is where you want it.

I recently picked up a timing light to figure out why my car was running like ish after a new water pump and dizzy. We tried our best to align to the marks but it didn't go so well, there were two lines in our sights, one longer than the other... Which of these is the stock 15deg BTDC line?

We ended up rotating the dizzy all the way to one direction and it made it run right(well, doesnt act sluggish anymore), but I know that's not the "proper" way to set it..
