    Considering Bisi stage 1 cam

    Hi guys.
Does anyone have first hand experience with a Bisi cam regrind? I'm thinking about the stage 1, because my car is primarily a DD and reliability/fuel economy is important to me.

At the same time, I'd like a little more power from my A1. Could I get away with my P12 ECU on the stage 1 cam? I'm sure ECU+tuning is recommended for all aftermarket cams, but I know no-one who tunes, and honestly if I'd have to get a tune (somehow) I'd rather do something more like his stage 2 offering.

    Thanks for any input.

    -Kenny

I don't know anyone with the bisi stage1, but sounds like a good plan. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to run that with the P12.

The Stage 1 shoudn't need a tune to run properly... you'd just get more out of it if you tuned. It's a very mild cam.

For such a mild application, I would prefer going with a Delta 260 or 272... they're far cheaper. I think Bisi is awesome, but if you're on a budget, you can get similar results for far less when it comes to the lower-end cam grinds.

Of course, Bisimoto parts are cooler.

        Thanks for the suggestions.

So the Delta 272 is pretty much the same thing? I've heard stories both ways for tuning with that one.

I do appreciate the fact that Bisi's cam was specifically intended for our engine application as well, unlike the so-called "generic" regrind that delta uses.

I'd like the most bang for my buck, and if delta will do that I'll consider that instead. Any fuel-mileage input from someone with a 272? I'm guessing the performance is comparable to the Bisi stage 1.

        Thanks again guys!

          Top...
Who has a 272 that can give me some more insight? (No Bisi pun intended )

I had a 272 at one point and ran on the stock Accord ECU for about a week before I switched to a chipped ECU.

Set your idle to about 850rpm, you should be able to get a decent idle and it sounds awesome with that cam.

On the stock ECU I was able to feel a little power bump above 4000rpm BUT 2000-3000 rpm is completely different from the stock cam, there is A LOT LESS torque. Especially going uphill, there was like no difference between 25% throttle and wide open throttle but it did start pulling above at~3000rpm and above.

When I switched to a chipped ECU, I got a solid timing map from d112crzy. With more timing, it pulled just like the stock cam at 2000-3000rpm. So I suggest at least getting a chipped ECU with a good basemap from someone who knows what they are doing.

Also After I tuned my fuel, the car pulled almost like an H22. I think that with smart breathing modifications and a knowledgeable tuner, this cam can make around 50 horsepower.

Honestly, I would go with something like delta260 if I was planning to use the stock ECU.
But you will get a bump in power with the 272 but like I said 2000-3000rpm will suck on the stock ECU

              Thanks.
I think the Bisi cam would be a little more suited to my needs. The price of an ECU and tuning (if I could figure it out) would probably be as much if not more than the Bisi cam's price over the Delta. Plus, as stated, I get that Bisi "bling" factor. Low end torque is a priority in my auto, and for daily driveability reasons.

I really appreciate all the help guys.

Yes I think you will be alot happier with the Bisi cam, as from what I have read, the Delta cams focus more on the upper rpm ranges.

Delta 272's are great camsticks. I can't wait for someday someone to compare a bisi vs a delta for us.
