ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

strange problem with ticking noise that i cant get rid of!!

I think it started when i got the distributor timed. its just a small ticking noise that randomly ticks when at complete idol, no gas, if i touch the throttle it goes away. Today was a very strange night because i started it in the dark and didnt hear that noise until i got all the way home and turned off the lights. as soon as i turn the lights out this mysterious noise started ticking. I then turned the lights back on and the noise contiuned for about 10 seconds then stopped...

    whats this a voltage regulator??

    Anything will help!!!!!

turning any accesory on/off changes load demand on the electrical system, so, i doubt its the regulator, but, could be first signs of bad dizzy
    you'll love my nuts!

just because you put a new dizzy in doesnt mean it cant be bad. sometimes you get bad parts that are brand new. it happens. hopefully it isnt the case but thats a possibility. dont rule out the dizzy just because you replaced it.

yea the rotor button it goes on the end of your distrib when you take the cap off the round black thing is your roter button sometimes they get loose and it will make a ticking sound but i cant see this happening if you bought a new distrib but sometimes new parts can be bad so next time it ticks pop your hood put your ear to the distrib if you hear a ticking its probaly the rotor button there about 5 dollars and easy to change but if the sound isnt coming from the distrib just check everthing untill you figure out where it is coming from.........

Ditto. Listen to where it's coming from and then post here. Ticking could be due to a wide variety of things so instead of sending you on a wild goose chase, narrow it down yourself and if you know the area it's coming from but still can;t figure it out, ask and we'd all have a much better idea of what to suggest.

take a large screwdriver, press the base of the handle against your ear, and then go around the engine bay touching the tip to whatever you want to "listen" to. with your other ear open to hear the "ticking" youll quickly match it up and find out whats causing it.

might want to check the distributor and injectors too.

Ill do some tests and get back to all of you. Ive confirmed that its only when i turn the lights off does the sound arise.
