ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

unless u have shit done to your engine anything higher than 87 is just going to burn to slow and will end up depositing right out your tail pipe. It does not matter how high the number is on the pump, our engine is designed to run on 87, it would be a waste to put anything higher in it.

^^^^^Not really, if you have a big intake and a big exhuast you can use the 93 with no problem, the more air you bring in the higher the octane has to be anyway or your are running to rich. no?

ive never seen unused fuel come out the exhaust before. i use premuim in mine sometimes and runs fine

as far as adding octane boost to it, i wouldnt do that, dont know how safe that is for your car and your seals and stuff. if you really want to beat the ridgline then just add some deccent mods I/H/E.......h22? thats always a good upgrade. or just make sure your car is running good, do a tune up.

You have never seen raw fuel drip out of a tail pipe...?

A motor would blow up before you would see fuel dripping out of the tail pipe. You must be thinking of condensation.

I would never run octane booster. It gives your exhaust a funky smell and it doesn't really work. It makes your spark plugs red too.

Higher octane is ONLY needed when your current fuel has gone to the point where you're limiting power due to detonation/pre-det.

Even a camshaft upgrade on an f22 doesn't need higher octane, unless the ecu is tuned for it.

One advantage to using a higher octane product is that you can safely advance you ignition timing and gain a bit of power. Of course, the best way to get performance from higher octane is to raise the compression ratio, but that requires new pistons or shaving the head.

Correct, as was just stated by Mr. d112crzy

Higher octane means more resisitant to detonation. Hihger octane is less likely to ping and cause knock and predetonation. Unless you tune your car for higher octane, there will be NO GAINS from it.

Turbo cars and nitrous and high cr n/a cars pick up power from race gas not because its higher octane, but because the higher octane allows for the car to be tuned with more aggressive timing.

When you put premium in a car that is meant to run on regular 87, the fuel doesnt burn fast enough therefore leaving no where else for this raw, left over fuel to go but out on the exhaust stroke, and eventually out the tailpipe

You do emit unburnt fuel from your motor; this is what the catalytic converter attempts to burn, as not to allow this vapor to enter the atmosphere. If your converter isn't up to temperature yet, such as when you just start the car, you're exhausting unburnt fuel from the tail pipe. You should be able to smell this.

Octane Boost only works on the lower numbers of octane. It will increase it by maybe a point. On higher octane ratings like 92 and up it is useless. They have had quite a few tests done in magazines and on tv to show that it does nothing to help in horsepower. And remeber if you use any gas 100 or over here it will hurt your cat.
