ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    i have a debate???

well i have came to the cross roads so to say on my car on which way i want to go with my build. i have already made up my mind inbetween the na,turbo, or procharged route. and i have choosen boost but the debate comes down to the head that i am running which is the f23a head. i know most will say it flows worth shit and to put a f22ax head on, i am just wondering why??? i know that the port design is better on it and the spacing allows for the porters to capitalize on the whole porting procedure but, for most dd builds only seeking 400 whp at the most with boost i would think the vtec heads are easily capable. now if this were a na builf i would understand the reason everyone says change the head out. but to my understanding of the vtec system used is that it has to two lobes and when the motor is under load or above a certain rpm in goes to the vtec lobe on just the intake side not the exaust. now please help me under stand this because most on this site will say this head is no good. but if i am forceing in air into the head and it is just opening the intake valve more wouldn't that create a higher static presure inside the combustion chamber resulting to a high velocity on the exaust side to spool the turbo???and wouldn't you be able to go with a more agressive can lobe in vtec due to it goes to a different lobe in idle helping keep it idling smooth??? or am i just way over think things (as i tend to due)i know 300 whp is doable on my setup and that is all i really want for now

    currently
    94 civic hatch
    head- f23a
    block- f22b1
intake- f23a with port match h22 tb
    fuel pump- walbo 255
exaust- 2.5 no cat cheap ebay can
    tranny- h23 (prelude si)

    the plan
    injector-550 rc's
    2.5 piping
    intercooler- 28x9x3ish
turbo- t3t04 60 trim set at 15 psi
    wategate- unknown
    blowoff valve- unknown
ems- chrome or s300 (depends on what comes along for the right price)
mani- unknown but 300 in the budget for it
total budget 1500 with tuning give or take
this car isn't a daily hence the reason for 15 psi and i would like to get a tune on this motor before i fully build one to fill it's shoes

goal 300 whp even if unreliable on stock motor end goal 300 whp relieable on build motor

just really would like a better insight on the heads not just they suck or the f22ax will out flow it. like durablily or just some stock flow charts of the heads will be nice to find to i have seen the f22a6 stock flow chart but i can never find one for the f23a or even the f22b1. and insight on the build will be great too. it's alway good to hear from other that have done and to know what they would have done different

The F22A head has a much better port design and valve angle compared to the F22B1 and F23A heads.

The VTEC system in the SOHC VTEC F series motors isn't a performance-based system. It was implemented mainly for fuel economy... and to sell cars.

However, 300whp is definitely doable with either head. I would prefer the F22A head for the reasons stated above, but the VTEC head won't prevent you from reaching a modest goal such as 300whp.
