Wipers on intermittant setting doesn't work

Wipers on intermittant setting doesn't work, it will work great on "LO" and "HI" settings, but not on the "INT" setting. Is there a fuse just for this setting? I got a 92 EX (canada, so I think that's a 92 LX for the americans). I just found out today while driving in the rain, but its raining pretty hard so the "LO" setting was good enough, for today.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

It Could B The Intermittent Wiper Relay By The Underhood Fuse Box And/or A Problem With The Switch Itself, good Luck With It.

Yeah that sounds likely. Also I just found out that my rear defrosters doesn't work, the switch light doesn't come on. Does the wiper relay control that, or is there a fuse that is a likely culprit?

Ok, I brave the cold today, (-4 degrees celsius) and I checked the fuses in the left kick panel, they're all good. I found the Intermittant wiper relay, that looks fine, but I'm not sure how to properly test it. I also discovered that in addition the the Intermittant wiper and the rear defrost not working the inside dome light and the cigarette lighter is not working.

Also tested the bulb in the rear defrost switch, it wasn't working (tested with a 9 volt battery) so I put in a red LED bulb/light I had (which works with the 9 volt battery) but the rear defrost still doesn't work.

How can I test the relays (Intermittant wiper, rear defrost, cigarette lighter)?

          Thanks for any suggestions.

You have more than one electrical problem, and those are always fun. Turn on the wipers to the intermittent setting and at the same time, touch the intermittent wiper relay. You should feel it click. Get a second person to help if you need to. If it does not click, take it out and test the terminals for voltage and ground. I will provide a wiring diagram for you for the wipers. Do the same thing with the defogger and cigarette lighter relays.

                  This is the fuse panel:

Its a rotated view, the fuses are the bottom and the black relays are the top and the grey space is where a brown plastic box clipped in that had this circuit board:

Is that the ICU? I think it is based on what I've read on this board. It looks ok, but I'm going to get it tested.

What are the relays at the top of the fuse panel, could someone Identify them specifically? Just curious, thanks!

                    FIXED! for now....

It's all working now. I went out today (finally a warm day AND its not raining) went to get a closer inspection of the dash fuse box. I was ready to pull it out, but there was a lot of wire connectors plugged into it, so I put in the ignition key in to see if anything changed (I unscrewed to Fuse box and tugged on it a bit) And BAM! everything worked! Intermittent wipers, rear defrost and cigarette lighter socket!

I figured out that my ipod holder was the problem, the pin at the very end that goes into the cigarette lighter fell off and the fuse in it came out and shorted the Interior light fuse under the hood fuse box. I changed that a while ago when I saw that it blew. That was the initial problem. When I tried it again (same ipod holder) it blew the fuse again, and all 3 systems stopped working again.

I guessing that some wire connected to the dash fuse box is the culprit but I couldn't see any damaged wire. For now its working, but I'll check it out one day, maybe when I take out the driver seat, it pretty cramped working space.

It wasn't simply the fuse, because I changed it weeks ago and it changed nothing. Its on;y after I tugged on the fuse box that everything started working.

I figured out two relays, what is the middle one?:

I had that same problem at one time. It was my relay. Hope it works out for you.

I think that middle relay is the blower relay.

The ignition harness: One wire was cut for an Anti-Theft device. It was messing up when I got it, so I removed it and connected the cut wire back. I guess it looks worse than it really is in that pic.

@ AblECaIn: Which relay? I still haven't fixed anything, but everything works, for now.

                              Epilogue:

My radio and cigarette lighter stopped working, while I was driving. When I got home I checked the radio, started to check the wires in back of the radion, when I accidently kicked the fuse box and everything worked! I moved the fuse panel around ( I took out the screws) and found that he power was flicking on and off for the radio. I pushed in all of the plugs in the fuse panel, and now everything works! I think either the wiring is bad: bad\loose connections or the plugs neede to be pushed in very securely.
