any tips on a new exhaust? set up(Mind the pun)

Hey all,

Today my friend got a Megan N1 and custom 2.25 cat back on his 1.6 Hyundai thing. It produces an awesome tone, im a little jealous that his car sounds like a WRX.

Im wondering with the same muffler should I get 2.25 or 2.5 custom exhaust? Im just a little scared my system will bring me a riced out sound because of my 2.2. Reason is, my car has a hella of a lot more pressure turn out then his does.

Can some one point me in the right direction when it comes to mufflers and size of custom piping I should get done. I dont want a bolt on cat back, id prefer the less expensive and more delightful custom welding job.

Personally, I am against having a WRX like exhaust note without atleast STI like performance. Ricey in anything.

Run the car in 2 cylinders , that will make a WRX sound.

Seriously , if you want atleast WRX sound get a turbo.

My H22A sounded like an STI with one dead cylinder lmao. Seriously, go with at least a 2.5" exhaust.

If you have a H22 or a camshaft upgrade in your f22 so that you're making power similar to a H22, then go with 2.5. Otherwise, 2.25 would probably be better if you have a stock or near-stock f22.

You'd probably think a 3" exhaust is to big for a stock H22. I've seen dyno's of all of Honda's performance motors(B18, H22, K20, F20 ect) loving 3" exhausts. Of course, those aren't an F22 though.

alright 2.25 it is, i do plan on putting on some after market headers and maybe a highflow cat. 2.25 sounds good.

I've had 2.25 and 2.5,2.5 is much deeper.

alright, does any one know what the Megan N1 on 2.5 will sound like.

Any past experience is much appreciated.

I can get a full custom system with a megan n1 for 200(installed) I would just like to know if any one has this muffler and is not the victim of rice.

The Megan cat-back sounds alittle raspy.

yeah if you have a stock motor the best thing would be a stock exhaust with a nice muffler....magnaflow etc...
