ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    f22a1 head removal

Im doing my manual swap, and while the engine was out i wanted to try to at least put new piston rings in because the car smoked a little before i started doing my swap. My question is when i take the timing and balance belt off all i need to do is loosen tensioner nut and take the timing belt off and then remove the head bolts in sequence and the head will come right off. is this correct, and if so, i am worried about putting all of my belts and pulleys on back on right for timing.. thanks

Well if your putting in rings then the rest should be easy. You will have to take the tensinor bolt loose to take tension off the belt to pull the head. Loose the head in 1-2 turns(iirc) in sequence to prevent warpage

sounds like you need to get yourself a chilton manual. This is all explained in good detail in service manuals.

A Helm manual will be MUCH more useful.

I agree, Helms manual is best source, but Haynes should do you well also.

Loosen Tbelt tension, remove Tbelt off cam gear.
                  Remove distributor.
                  Remove rocker arm assembly.
                  Remove camshaft.
Remove head screws, may require 1/2" breaker bar and steel pipe for more leverage. Use a 6-point socket, I prefer impact version.

Helms did me right MANY times!
I wouldn't worry about timing too much as there are marks for every pully except the rear balance shaft to line everything back up. some people will take a paint stick and make a mark on the block and pulley to easily line things back up. GL!

Make sure you have a torque wrench before tearing it apart as you will need it to put it back together. AND the special honda tool to hold the crank in place while breaking the nut loose.
