ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Shaking at idle

Ive noticed that my steering wheel is starting to shake more than usual now when i am idle..

could this be that the engine is going bad or something?

what could i do to make it not shake so much?

check your engine mounts. one or more of them is prob. bad by now if you havn't replaced them recently.

                i had this same problem . . .
everytime i started my car , or sat at a red light my car would shake violently

i hope your prob is the engine mounts ,
but worse case scenario , new engine .

i don't remember what the diagnosis was with mine but i know i had a compression test , and one cylinder was completely unresponsive .

Most likely its the motor or trans mounts. I found a couple good deals on Ebay. $140 for the whole set. 3 motor mounts and trans mount. They are the OEM style. If you drive your car hard though and you want an upgrade you can go with polyurethane mounts... I havent priced any up though. They are fairly easy to install depending on your mechanical ability and know-how. a jack and some wrenches will get her done at the house. Of course if you have shop with a lift its a whole lot easier. You can test to see which mount it is instead of replacing them all if you want. Get a friend to watch under the hood while you brake and give it throttle in gear then switch to reverse. when it flexes you can see which motor mounts are bad.

really, just a jack and some wrenches... that sounds so simple.. lol

i think im gonna go with the polyurethane mounts just cause might as well upgrade right..? is that a good idea?

the front one is cake to change, you don't even need to support the engine...well if your other three are holding the engine then you dont, but if they're crap, then I would.

The side mounts you do have to support the engine on either side or just put a jack under the trans for the pass. side mount, DO NOT jack up, but just for support will be fine.

For the rear mount, you might have to remove the intake manifold, this is by far the hardest one, unless you have lots of room to access it.
