ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

weird noise ,steering wheel vibrating, Horrible MPG- WTF

i dont know if any of those problems are relative to each other but let me elaborate , now normally i like to solve things on my own but i don't want to make a costly mistake of replacing things as cash is tight right now
    Anyways

    1. when my car is idling the steering wheel ever so slightly vibrates

    2. i am literally averaging about 300 miles to a tank

    3. the weird noise is something i cant explain but almost like a slight hissing near the crank pulley ( at least its gets louder when closer to the crank pulley side and its pretty distinctive, NOT a quiet engine

    - i did run 1/3 of a can of seafoam in the intake , used fuel injector cleaner in the fuel system
my still bogs under 2.5 k bout 2wice a week , little less now after sea foam

i am thinking the fuel filter could be the culprit

    - as far as the noise i can rule out any air leaks , i dont have any and the alternator b/c its new

    - still puzzled about the slight vibration , maybe it relates to the noise near the crank

as far as for those problems the H still runs "acceptably" strong ( when it wants too )

I don't know what the problem is, but if it were my car and all I had to go on was what you've said, I'd try experimentally removing the power steering belt...

      1. I get 300 miles to the tank, MAX...and I would like to follow this to try to improve my mileage (I also suspect my filter, among other things).

      2. The shuddering usually occurs when one or more motor mounts is going bad or is bad. If it is your motor mounts, then it happens at lower RPMs because of the slower rotation of the engine. As the engine slows down, it no longer is turning fast enough to cancel out any instabilities due to that motor mount. Think about swinging an object on a long string. As you swing it in a circle slowly, your arm is moving more to follow that object's "resonance". As you speed up the spin, you keep a more tight radius as you cancel out the forces.

      3. I had that noise when accelerating when I was starting to get an exhaust leak. I had it for two years until I got the motivation to change my headpipe.

probably motor mounts that's causing the vibrations.

          dont have ps

for the vibrations, is there a full proof way too see which motor mount is failing

Place the car in 1st gear (or Park), then vigorously push / pull it forward and backward. As the engine (or auto trans) takes the load the engine will rock forward or backward. Watch to see which mounting seems to be moving excessively.

i would suggest buying an energy suspension motor mount insert for the front mount, it helps A LOT with the movement of the engine. Its only 15 bucks on ebay shipped I believe.

Most common to go out are the front and rear mounts.
