ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Most people will tell you that regular motor oil is all you need. In many cars, that's true.

However, our transmissons tend to have problems with regular motor oil. Your best bet is to go to a Honda dealer and shell out the clams for a couple quarts of synthetic MTF.

Or, as I've done, go to a GM dealer and get some Synchromesh.

I've had the best luck with a 50/50 mix of Redline MTL and MT90 in all my import boxes...

I'd say always go for Honda MTF, it's made by Honda for Honda after all.

Sometimes putting Redline or other oil may temporarily mask some grinding etc if your box (or rather your synchros usually) is giving up, but it's not "saving" anything, it's just masking the problem temporarily.

YMMV, but I'd say you can't go wrong with Honda OEM...

If you're replacing your auto trans oil, just be sure you get the right oil. MTF is only for manual cars (Manual Transmission Fluid obviously ), if you're going the Honda route you're looking for ATF-Z1 oil.

I'd have just referred him to the posts above, which clearly answer the question...

But your answer was even more thorough! Thanks!

Not knowing the people I deal with I find it safest to go with the direct route on forums to avoid reading "But you said MTF!" later on

Also being only a few days old on the forum I try not to let my smartass personality shine through before the honeymoon is over

The honeymoon was over for me a LONG time ago... I still try to be nice, but I'm glad there are people around that do a better job of it!

And yeah, giving detailed information is the best way to ensure you don't get hit with questions (or blame!) later on!
I've been bad about giving details lately... I have to remember that some people are TOTALLY new to this stuff (and some people just have no common sense, too...)
