ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    engine questions

im thinking about buying a f series motor but im not sure which to start with. would a sohc vtec f22a1 be a good foundation to start with. im looking to have 150+ hp after a couple of mods. like exhaust and header and such.

    #2
well the f22a1 comes with 125bhp. With a few really good mods like a good intake, headers and exhaust I dont see why you wouldnt be able to see 150hp out of that motor. Its a relatively cheap motor to so I would say just go with that.

There is no such thing as a VTEC F22A1.

If you mean the F22B1... it's a waste of time. You'd be better off with an F22A1.

And 150hp, to the wheels, would require a fair amount of work. Simple bolt-on mods may not get you there. Some porting and polishing to the head may be necessary. A good P&P, a nice header, a good cam, and a proper ECU tune would get you 150whp.

the f22a1 DOES NOT COME WITH 125 BRAKE HORSEPOwER
i would say f22B i/h/e with a good tune and some goodies will get 145-150

        i have f22a1 i/h/e P&p head, h23 mani, 65mm tb, h23 trans, i'll be lucky if i hit 140

The stock f22A9 is rated at 150 crank hp. I think the major difference between this engine and the lower hp f22 engines is that the f22A9 has a higher compression ratio (9.8/1), though there may be other differences(?).

If you're referring to me, I knew it existed... I also knew it was not a US motor, and therefore asked where you (or whoever was asking about it) was from.

It is an Australian motor. If you are in Australia, it may not be that difficult to find. If you are in the US, you'll need to import one... that could be a little more difficult. And costly. For what it would cost to import an F22A9 into the US, you could do a mild build on the F22A1/4/6 and make more than 150hp. Or you could get something totally different, that starts with 160-190hp.

Im just curious on what you have in your engine bay now. If your looking for a F22 motor, you should have one in your car now.

If you have an accord like the rest of us, and the engine is stock, then its an F22. Im curious aswell to what you have (car and engine wise).

Depending on where he is, it could be an F20... or even an F18.

I picked up a F20A in Sacramento when I blew my stock motor. Cost me $250. The inside was clean and like it was never used. But, had to go to the smog refree to get it stamped! California smog laws blows!

But, I'm pretty sure the f18's and F20's can only be in the states if imported.

He never said that he was in the US, though... unless I missed it! (the IP address is in the US, so I assume he is... but still) Though yes, you're right, anything other than the F22A would need to be imported. I believe the F18 was a Japanese market offering only. Not even Europe got those, I don't think.

I assumed... Keep forgetting there is people worldwide on here.

As far as the F18 seems Japan would only have gotten those when first bought. i can see Europe getting them when the Japanese replace them and export them. I could be wrong.
