ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    EGR Causing hesitation.

So, last week i had to block it off. My pintle wasnt coming all the way down, which was causing rough idle and other random shit. odd enough i didnt get a SES light when i coke-canned it. So, i went to the wrecker, and i found one and cleaned it up right there. It seemed ok. The pintle came all the way down, but im still noticing some MINOR jerking when the car starts to go, if i floor it, im fine, but if i baby it, i notice some very minor jerks. Is the EGR still screwed, or is there something else that could cause that?

Clogged EGR service ports will lead to roughness (either crusing or accel) @ part to light throttle @ 1800 to 2500 RPM.

EGR will affect it at low cruising speeds. Your "minor jerking" when you "baby" it could be with your spark plugs being old/burned up... also if your tube seals are leaking, you'll get some oil build up on the spark plug making it harder to fire.

I cant see how the ports would cause hesitation. Its not like your cleaning the rest of the line all the way down. Im not able to buy the port covers however... Whats the part number for those, or should i just tap it for 10MM bolts?

here's the part number for the plugs, P/N 17199-PT3-AHM, i think they're universal for hondas with an EGR system...

they're not as solid as the originally equipped, they warp easy when banging them in, so get a lot. I think you need 7-8 plugs, i got like 12 plugs and messed up atleast 3. They're only like .30 each.

I remember There is a removable plug on sale somewhere so you don't have to drill for future service. Anyone know where is that Removable EGR port plugs?

The reason why the motor will feel rough when the ports are clogged is b/c all the recirc'd exhaust gases will be going into 1 cylinder instead of 4. Basically over time, the ports will fill up and clog, 1 by 1, until there is only 1 open port. The orig. OEM plugs are brass (the 6 on top and the larger 7th) and the newer Honda ones are stamped steel, very cheap IMO.

Regarding the thread in plugs for future use, the 7th larger port on the far right side is already the correct size (29/64") for a 1/2" pipe plug or set screw. I enlarged the 6 ports to 29/64" then tapped them to 1/2"-20 and used 7 1/2"-20 set screws, worked really well. This was on a spare set of runners, I would hesistate to do this while the runners are on the motor b/c of metal shavings!!!
