ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

        making power as in ????
there are people making 300/300 turbo on stock blocks and as for na 150ish is the most i have seen when it come to na but everyone knows when it comes to na the f22ax are the way to go but as for fi it is about the same as the f22ax as the numbers show and generally it will have more torque than the a's do i guess it is cam profile that does that or vtec i dunno because the blocks measure the same. my setup is a f22b1 block with a f23a head not really a b1 anymore but it made 138/137 at the wheel pretty much all oem parts minus exaust and short ram air intake but i am working on taking it to the next level here soon(15 psi t3/to4e 57 trim goal 300/300)

                Stock?

                Boosted, both can do alright.

But as far as overall performance goes... the B1 head flows horribly. The valve angle is bad, and the ports flow poorly due to the design of the vtec system.

this is where i get lost deev i know everyonr says they flow like s... but in stock form they are about the same and i thought the valve angle is the same... as for the vtec system yes it is pointless with out opening up the exaust too. now the port design i agree with you and understand that as for porting them they are not the best but for most street applications as porting goes you can do the same amount of porting on them as the f22ax head now if you want a crazy all out 300 whp na setup yes the f22ax head has more meat to port and open up. but like i said for most street builds and budgets the b1 will be fine imo

To sink any money into an NA B1 is pointless. If you want power from a B1 ,the only thing worthwhile to do is turbo. A mild turbo setup on a stock B1 will make plenty of power. It's a well-made motor... just not good for performance.

I tend to go overboard in telling people that it's crap, because everyone wants to rip out a perfectly good F22A for the "VTEC upgrade"... 5hp and a head with less flow potential.

Yes stock. Nonvtec tho. The vtec is also alright. But it's just as fast as a a6

But the non-vtec version is weaker than the A6. And the vtec version is only 5hp better... then when you modify, the F22A destroys the F22B motors.

As I've said before... there is a VERY good reason why Bisi chose to use the F22A head in his race car. It's not because he just likes the motor... it's because the potential of that head is considerable.

i agree it is pointless to rip out a good f22ax for a b1. but the b1 like you said isn't junk. it really comes down to what the owner whats in the end imo. 200+na f22a's, 300- whp turbo either, 301whp+ f22ax sleeved and more, but for the basic bolt-ons(90% of the people on the site) and thats it they will both perform the same. i see your point and yes it getts old people saying vtec hits hard on that motor or is it better because it has vtec. but i have faith in my motor yes not a b1 anymore but kinda the same and i will prove to you it can make decent power lol (i just don't know how much cash to throw at her yet to do it lol)

i think this has to do with cam profile more than anything. if the b2 had the same duration and lift as the a6 i think it will put out close to the same
and i think this is why the b1 has 5 more hp yes the vtec i think it has slightly higher lift than a a6 but yes not worth a swap for it cheaper to get a regrind on the a6 and make more power
