Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

The 6 cylinder CD5 had a C27A which is 170 HP I believe. With the work that it would take to fit a 6 cylinder motor in a CB7, it would be kinda pointless to use that motor when a H22 makes significantly more HP then that and is a direct drop in. A J series motor would be more worth it.Originally posted by Smoken_ducky7 View Postits been doen befor but like he said im sure it would be alot of work i think the one they use is the on out of a cd5.Last edited by AbsurdNY; 04-30-2009, 06:55 AM.

It did have an extended engine bay, by 70MM I think. According to Honda, it was NOT for space reasons, as the V6 would fit in the existing 4 cylinder engine bay. According to one of the engineers interviewed, it was to make sure there was enough airflow space to ensure an adequate cooling margin, because while the existing bay and radiator were able to handle cooling the engine, Honda wasn't comfortable with it, so they expanded it to make sure overheating wouldn't be an issue.Originally posted by deevergote. View PostA J series would be a worthwhile swap. The 5th gen V6 is nothing spectacular... And I believe the 5th gen V6 models actually had an extended engine bay to accommodate the V6. I could be wrong there, though... I really don't spend enough time on CD5tuner.com...Last edited by owequitit; 04-30-2009, 11:48 AM.

LOL! Our 2006 Accord V6 with auto gets 33-36MPG highway routinely and also gets around 26 city. That is in a car that weighs nearly 500lbs more than a CB. In a CB it would get better MPG, and with a 6 speed, probably better MPG still.Originally posted by paulhenrick2k8 View Postprolly want to spend more money on gas

The newer J series is a work of art.
I'd be curious to see how a CB7 would handle with one, based on the weight (which isn't THAT much more than an F22, is it?) and the mounting position (I assume it'd be pretty far forward, which would make the car nose-heavy) It would make for a VERY refined ride in a CB7 though... and the V6 in the 8th gen Accord can propel that 3500+lb car through the quarter mile in about 14.5 seconds. Now, put that into a car that weighs 600lbs less (plus whatever added weight the engine and transmission bring...) and you've got a rocket on your hands. They also respond VERY well to mods, I'm told.

Well, due to positioning, it would probably change the weight % by about 1% or so. That seems to be what it did with the 6th gen too, so I think that is a fair estimate. It would inevitably be slightly nose heavier than a 4 banger, but honestly, I don't think it would make a huge difference. I don't believe it weighs much more than an H22, and that doesn't really make much of a difference. The only real issue is that it will have slightly more mass ahead of the axle centerline. Ultimately, it won't be known until we get one in there and find out, but I think it will be workable. Larger front tires, stiffer springs, stiffer rear setup etc. As for accelleration, even if you used a J30A4 or A5, you would be going from 160-170WHP and ~140lb/ft with your average H22 swap to around 195WHP and 180lb/ft or so with an auto, or 212-220WHP and 195-200lb/ft at the wheels if the J30 was hooked to a 6 speed and had the dual stage IM. That is a 25-29% increase in WHP over a stock H22 and a 29-43% increase in WTQ. Over an H22, which itself provides significant advantages over an F22. VS an F22 it is over DOUBLE the WHP and nearly DOUBLE the wheel torque. Stock.Originally posted by deevergote. View PostThe newer J series is a work of art.

My educated guess is that weight would be around 3150lbs with a 6 speed, which is good for about 300lbs less than the 8th gen. Couple in the smaller frontal area, and assuming you could get the power down without too much difficulty, and I would assume that it would be on par with the new 3.5L Accord V6 6 speed which is easily breaking 100MPH trap speeds and is capable of hitting 13's in the 1/4, again being 100% stock. Put that same 3.5L from the new Accord or even one of the 3.7L in there and I don't think you would gain that much due to traction (they overpower the tires in significantly heavier cars with bigger tires and more sophisticated suspension), but overall, it would certainly be a very quick car, and once you got it hooked up off the line, it would flat move.
And yes, they respond very well to mods. With simple exhaust mods, the J30A4/A5 (2003-2007 Accord) and the J35xx (2007-2008 TL-S or 2008-2009 Accord V6 6 speed) are gaining in the 30-40WHP mark. The catback on a TL-S is worth about 12WHP, the downpipes are worth another 12 or so, and the cats, if you can find good highflow replacements are returning nearly 20WHP just by themselves. A CAI seems to also be worth about 10-15WHP and TB spacers as well as Hondata style phenolic IM gaskets seem to be worth incrementally about 3-5HP each. So you could theoretically, get a J30A4/A5 up to near the 250WHP mark with bolt ons, and the J35xx to the 275-300WHP mark with bolt ons. The other beauty of them is that there is no H22 style powerband. They pull from idle to redline, in one smooth constant curve, and they run a plateau flat torque curve(literally) of 90+% of peak torque from just off idle to over 6 grand. Well, you saw the dynos I showed you.
To be honest, while I love the "all mighty" K20 in my Si, it can't hold a torch to the thrust of even the J30. I was driving the 04 the other day for troubleshooting purposes, and it just felt...potent. Man I love those engines.Last edited by owequitit; 04-30-2009, 12:14 PM.
