ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Distributor/Ignitor problem

My car seems to start fine with no hesitation in hot or cold weather, but after running for apprx 15-20min if i turn it off it wont turn back on, it will crank but wont start. What I've learned is that if I let the car sit for 15-20min it will start right back up.

This is what it does after turning off:

0-5min from no start - cranks but doesnt start

5-10min from no start - cranks and almost turns on, RPMs flutter up to a 500ish and then it dies

10-20min from no start- starts up and runs like a champ... till i turn it off again.

I've narrowed it down to the ignitor/module, is my guess correct, or could it be something else?

If it was the main relay, it would start at all in hot weather, right? I've had the CB since feb/march, when its not hot in AZ, and its been happening since. I dont beleive its gotten over 100degrees in AZ

If you haven't had any stumbling, I would go after the main relay first. There's a DIY on resoldering them, which can make it a free fix.

The main relay usually won't cause the car to quit after it's already running. I think you're on the right track with the igniter...I experienced the exact same sequence of symptoms you are describing and it turned out to be the igniter.

Could also be your starter, when they go bad they show the same symptom.

Bogging, lurching, whatever. Basically, when you are accelerating, does the car seem to jump/jerk/hesitate/misfire any? If not, I'd do the main relay before the ignitor.

If it does it to you again, try sitting with your driver side door open and your fan full on foot level. When my main relay was going I did that and it cut my wait time significantly down.
