ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Car cranks but does not start!!

The car was running fine yesterday morning & later that afternoon I had to run an errand. When I started the car, after about 5 seconds, the car shut off as if their was no gas in the car (btw there is gas in the car)

So I tried starting it & it would only crank so I checked for spark & there wasnt any and then I checked to see if I could hear the fuel pump & I couldnt hear anything... Something I noticed is that the engine light stays on & the sports light didnt even come on when I put it in ACC mode. I removed the carpet to check the computers to see if they were throwing any codes & there was no light at all (my ECU/TCU come with a little window)...in the past when I checked for codes, there was still a light that would blink at least once when I put it into ACC mode.

So im not too sure if there is a short somewhere that burned my ECU & TCU??
Or could it be another problem that i'm not aware of?

At first I thought it could be the ignition module in the distributor. But after not hearing the fuel pump either, im lost on what it could be.

    Any help would be appreciated
    TIA

If you don't hear the fuel pump then it is definitely the main relay. Wait until the sun goes down and try to start it and it should start right up, if it isn't too far gone. I removed mine and resoldered it a couple days ago. Its hard as balls to get to but its doable. I had never soldered anything in my life and I was able to fix my relay so I'm sure you can do it. Just go to Radio Shack and get the soldering iron kit. It comes with solder and some other tools too and its only $7.99. Good luck. Oh, there's a DIY in the DIY section.

Try to remove the fuse for the battery under the hood for a couple mins and then see if it changes anything and if the CEL is on, check for the code.

What makes you say that it is "definitely" the main relay? It could also be the fuel pump itself if he don't hear.

So its not the main relay, I found that it was the ECU fuse under the dash... I put another fuse in & it blew also, I opened up the ECU and theres no signs of it being burnt. What could be causing the fuse to burn continuously??

He said hes not getting spark boss....

You have a short to ground somewhere on the positive side causing the fuse to burn out

Could be a short somewhere in the wiring going to the ECU

So?? the main relay could cause the motor to not get spark also.

I'm thinking that the main problem here is to find the reason for the fuse blowing.

Disconnect the battery put a new fuse in and then connect the battery.

If the fuse pops when you put it in or put power to it there has to be a short. I would check the wiring at the injectors and the resistor box. Check all grounds.
