ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Scavenging power ideas?

So the next autox event is in two weekends and the course is being designed by a mustang driver. lotta straightaways etc i imagine. something that will work well with power and not so technical.

what can i do to temporarily increase power? i was reading that if you unplug the iab/egr that you get better throttle response and maybe a little more pickup. Any ideas?

Drop as much weight as possible. The less car there is to move, the faster you'll go.

There really isn't that much you can do to increase power significantly enough to give you an edge over V8s in a straightaway. An extra 5hp that MIGHT be eeked out by little tricks won't mean diddly against 300hp cars.

Drop weight, make sure your motor is healthy, and do your best to take em on the twisties. Focus on what your car is GOOD at.

throw on a short 3" intake with velocity stack to extend your powerband. run smaller 15" tires up front however it may be too long in 2nd gear on a stock tranny.

0.5mm Oversized Stainless valves and bronze guides available. Pm me please.

Disconnect the coolant lines going to your throttle body. In an auto-x race, your coolant temp will rise and if you have those lines connected your IAT's will also rise. Higher IATs result in the ecu retarding timing and leaning out.

Sorry i know this is old been workin on the car though. So...The lines run to the IACV if im not mistaken. Is this something that will need to be replaced immediately after the race? there was another thread a week or so ago and the guy had disconnected them and was gettin some funny issues.

          To wed3k:
What does the shorter intake do? I would think it would hurt as the air coming in would be hotter since closer to the engine. And i got an AEM dryflow. They have an integral stack. would another be useful?

          To Deever:
She's gonna be stripped completely by Friday night. Trunk is bare, will be runnin no backseats, a/c and cc gone, 1/4 or less tank of gas, lighter oil.

Last time i was running 8.5 seconds behind. thats a freakin eternity and i can drive my ass off. its on this time.

I'd bypass the IACV as well. I've been running without FITV/IACV or coolant lines going to tb for years without any issues. I also do this to a lot of the cars I tune.

Just for your information the coolant lines that go to the throttle body are only there to prevent the throttle plate from freezing in place when the outside air is really cold. If you live in a warm climate that will never see temps approaching something like 10 degrees you will never need these lines.

                convert your lights to LEDs?

                Delete your power steering?

                Take out your spare tire.

                  Why would he do that?

                  1 watt = 0.00134102209 hp

Changing out bulbs for lesser wattage won't do shit.

Well if you add up all those watts from all the bulbs... PLUS dont play your stereo and use your headlights it should save you half a HP at least.

                          I/H/E. good wires/plugs, a/c delete,cc delete.

rerouted coolant from IACV. Blocked of ports in that and the FITV. seems a little more responsive but i could be just being hopeful. Well T-3 hours and we'll see
