so i recently purchased off ebay a full-bore ram air intake for my 1993 ex coupe, f22a6, 5-speed. no specific brand name. i am very hesitant to install it for more than one reason. i am currently a technician (at a toyota dealership, sorry), and the master techs i've spoken too tell me it's a bad idea due to the risk of hydrolock. i unfortunately live in omaha nebraska, where it rains a bit and snows a lot during the winter time. the intake kit sounded like a good idea at the time, now i'm nervous for the risk of hydrolocking. any input would be fantastic. thanks.

ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

I've had my CAI in some pretty bad rain and standing water. So far, so good. But, the AEM bypass filter is definitely on my list of things to get in the near future. As long as you're careful about driving through water you'll be fine. The plastic in the wheel well protects the intake pretty well, but it's a great idea to have some added certainty (the bypass filter).

couldnt have said it better, but the bypass filter is a waste of time if you want a true cai. it still sucks in hot engine heat, like ive stated before. but to each his own. if your application requires you to have one, than so be it. but living in texas, and the rain we get, i either just dont drive anywhere, or keep to the left lane. ive never once had a problem with mine. the fender liners not allow much water to get into the filter, and with the water repellant pre filter from www.outerwears.com, youll have an even better chance of eliminating hydrolockOriginally posted by JoshM View PostI've had my CAI in some pretty bad rain and standing water. Im not sure, but make sure you get a k&n or AEM cone filter. I wouldn't risk the cheap ebay one.Originally posted by GreenMachine93 View Postthank all of you for the input. love the modified intake from the guy from the UK, that actually would be the best of both worlds. can i find something like that kit on the aem website?
